alluminium mesh... dunno if in italy they know the english word, but i REALLY hope so ;P

Check craft and art stores.  It is normally used to create an armature for paper mache or plaster sculpting.

Another (better) option would be to look online.  In the US, I get mine from Dick Blick.  They carry a full line, so you can find different patterns and sizes for specific needs.

You should be able to find one or two suppliers like that in the EU.

If they don't, try translating 'aluminium web' or 'aluminium net' into Italian and ask again. I couldn't find the bloody stuff before I started searching for 'plastic padding', which is a trade mark, so should be the same in all languages.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

30 DKK for 20x25cm It's the cheapest I've found retail until now (almost 50 DKK for EXACTLY the same product somewhere else). About £3.5

Didn't buy it, yet, but I'll be visiting their store in Odense, to get some tools, and a new pair of clogs for the garden, anyway (soon - the pair I'm using now resembles an attacking alligator; all open at the front  lol ).

Thanks Niels that's much cheaper than what I saw in Bauhaus the other day.

In North America you can get the plastic mesh that is used for screen doors - no cuts or snags  :)
