Man Eating Plant

I need to make a man eating plant as an encounter for a Pulp game I'm putting together but I'm out of ideas how to make it.

I've thought of maybe using a Walnut shell for the central part and pipe-cleaners wrapped in surgical tape for the trunk and vines. Also thought that I might make a number of bases of "roots" to attack any player who think's they are safe shooting from a distance.

Has anyone ever made something like this? I would be grateful for any advice before I Embark on the project.

Not seen pipe cleaners wrapped in surgical tape but I have seen thickish wire wrapped in masking tape to achieve a similar effect for trees - I think it was at TerraGenesis - http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/ - but I'm not finding it on a search, sorry.

I've also seen something from a Lord of the Rings game where the Watcher in the Water had tentacle bases very like your 'root' bases that appeared on the water surface. Seems very do-able and an interesting challenge for players too. Looking forward to seeing the result.

Well, I've moved on and made a few changes ...

- Transferred the model to a larger base.
- Teeth are removed but only so i could put some milliput in the mouth to even it out.
- Used milliput to make some tenticles. i think i'll add another 4 shorter ones later and do some work on the "trunk".
- Made some leaves with thin wire and paper in two sizes. The small ones are to put in the large tenticles and the large onres will come off the base, (should i paint these before fitting?)

Big fan of Little Shop Of Horrors (the Frank Oz Version) the puppets were so cumbersome that the scenes in which the two largest Audrey II puppets are performing with the actors are filmed at a lower speed. First at 16 frames per second, then at 12 frames per second for the final number. This meant that the actors had to move and lip sync in slow motion.

Time to ditch the anorak I think!

I have a couple of Horrorclix Pod Mothers that I run out for carnivorous plant encounters.  I dont like the eyes on them though, the Little Shop look that you have is more classic.

Teeth back in and I've given her ... a gender ... and a forked tongue. Shown with Copplestone 28mm figure for scale.

Do you think the tongue is too much? I think it's hard to tell if it's not painted, which I will do tomorrow. I think i need to make more leaves now and get them painted.
