Home made fantasy tiles
« on: October 14, 2011, 01:54:06 AM »
Inspired by the Carnavale miniatures I thought I would make some scenery but I wanted to be able to use it fairly generically.
The building is one that I made a long time ago but I felt it could be recycled for this project. The tiles are made from blue styrofoam, I intend to make about 4 or 5 more tiles (some with different brick and slab patterns) and then start casting them in resin providing me with hundreds of options, the tiles can also stack up to create different levels. Once cast I will also paint a set in grey for dungeon crawls. After the floor tiles I will start on fully stackable building walls again cast in resin providing fully customisable buildings, these walls will also be able to be used as dungeon walls.
Now for the pictures

Just need the figures now....
I hope you like

I really like what you've done here.  The wishbone ( ?? ) pattern is quite nice.  Two thumbs up on this project.

Great looking terrain.
I like the pattern.
Your house looks outstanding, are you planing to do anymore?
May I ask what tool you used to engrave the tiles?
Will look forward to reading more and seeing what else you do.

This looks nice, so much good stuff, so little time.  :'(

Fantastic!  :-*

Lovely carving of the foam. A great pattern, consider it stolen, er, copied!

Love the building in the background too.
Is it commercially available or a scratchbuil?
Whichever it is, it is very nice.

Top drawer, Sir!

BTW; What figures were you thinking of?

I'm doing something which sounds a bit similar to the second half of your project, looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

The building is an old scratchbuild, will use many of the lessons learnt with this in designing my modular buildings.
These figures initially inspired the project, particularly models on Worldwerk tiles

but would like to make as generic as possible so can use from fantasy to historical from Medieval to Victorian

really nice work!

Considered the low details of the tiles, i suggest you to use ceramics instead of resin: ways cheaper, and as durable as the yellow gold (wait... there's something wrong on it XD )

Very attractive.
What are the sizes?
