Home made Mountie!
« on: November 23, 2008, 05:50:35 AM »
I'm really happy with how Sergeant Logan, NWMP, turned out. Not the most acurate, best looking mini in the world, but table top quality with a VSF twist. I had most of the pieces from various bargain bins.

I took Heroclix fig Lobster Johnson,

Horrorclix fig Zombie Drill Sargeant

and Logan

Added a bit of brown stuff, and voila! Ok, he's not your average Mountie, but I think that he's an interesting VSF twist of Canada's most favourite super hero.

Just have to finish basing him, give him his sergeant's stripes, and he's done.

You have a good eye.

Nothing like a bit of putty and a dash of paint.

Thanks!

You realise that uniform didn't come about until the 1920's......

Yeah, I don't care either. I've always intended to do a group dressed in that uniform.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Yes, before then they were just the NWMP. The red coat now is just for ceremonies and other special occasions.

Mountie uniform of scarlet tunic with Stetson hat was introduced during the reign of Queen Victoria (Gawd bless 'er).  The Queen's Cowboys wore the Stetson during the Yukon gold rush:

And they even wore it to the Diamond Jubilee!

Yeah, I know..... If I wanted to do "proper" VSF Mounties I would have gone with the RAFM NWMP, although they are a bit on the small side. But if you're going to do Mounties right, go with the stetson or go home, historical accuracy be damned!  ;)
