Old West miniatures with "vet from civil war" look? Kepis etc?
« on: October 20, 2011, 02:52:08 PM »
I am trying to find some good looking miniatures to use in Old West that have uniform jackets, kepis and such, to make them look like civil war veterans. I am sure you can imagine what I am after. However, I have found one brigade game miniature, but thats about it. I suppose I could use some ACW figures as well, especially confederats, but once again (since I havent walked that path in the wargaming purgatorium yet) I am not sure where to look for good miniatures, so any suggestions would be welcome. I am not fond of small figures, they should be at least compatible with Artizan and the like.

Thanks in advance!

"Reb Jenkins" from Foundry. I'd call him a 'regular 28' though, the Foundry Old West aren't quite as big as the newer generation of figures.

The Foundry used to produce a number of figures for the Missouri Border wars in their Old West range including Bloody Bill Anderson etc, many of these were wearing ACW kit. They are larger scale later Foundry and might even have been sculpted by Mike Owen. :)

Since the Foundry new website has been up and running it seems many of the packs have disappeared. :?

I am sure though you will find some on Ebay or post a request in the Bazaar.

Brigade Games civil war guerilla Bushwackers could work as civil war veterans. One miniature wears a confederate shelljacket and another a cavalry great coat.

Their Western Characters III-line has a fella with kepi and infantry shelljacket. Looks like (not-) Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch from Appaloosa are included in this pack as well.

Perry minis have 2 ACW camp sets, bought one of them recently but there wasn't a pic of the other so I didn't bother (if anyone has a pic of that set, it would encourage a further Perry purchase). Some suitable figures to be used for Bushranger setting civilians. Was actually buying the Rioting ACW Civilian sets so added that one in.

I can confirm that these were sculpted by Mike Owen  :)

ACW68 Union camp set 1 should be the one that's shown on the Renedra Homepage along with their tents:
