the choices for suitable 28mm aircrews are almost non-existant.

So carve some out of wood!  lol

It's a beauty. And to think that only 60 or so years ago, all scale models were effectively built like that.

Its gratifying to know that one builds the model from nothing more than blocks of wood.  I am less concerned with minute detail than with giving the overall impression in accurate scale.  Paint tomorrow!

That looks amazing! You've even modelled the cowl flaps - nicely done.

Did you scratchbuild the prop too, or is that salvage from a plastic kit?

I made the prop from thin plywood but I cheated on the cowl vents which were something of an afterthought so I used green putty.  I've done a bit of fig conversion as well so she'll have a crew!

Now it just needs the crew and squadron number designation,  but essentially its done!

You haven't thought about a job making aircraft recognotion models for the US Army Airforce by any chance?
