Well, I´m currently bringing the finished stuff more in line with our new design concept (the one seen in the book, the Spain thing has been in the making for a long time already). What I can tell you is that the core lists are done, and now it´s mainly a matter of layout work and getting it to the printers. A conservative estimate, we´ll have it out by February.

I´m going to upload two sample illustrated force lists over the course of the weekend.

As a teaster, here are some of the projected force lists contents: Spanish Foreign Legion, Moroccan Regulars, Nationalist and Republican Militias, International Brigades, Guardia Civil and Regular Army, specific data and rules for a number of vehicles used and some "preconstructed" heroes - ie you´ll pay slightly less points for those and will automatically get specialised skills only available to those, but won´t be able to roll up specific skills for them.

Ayayay, I´m currently thinking about having them as a sub-option of the "Nationalist Militias" list.

Isn't that to downgrade them a little too much? As I understand my litterature Carlists were shock troops with heavy casualities.

I think so, too. I read the Navarrese Brigades were considered as "elite"...
they were highly motivated, often fought at hot spots and had a casulty rate of 10%.

For what I read the Carlist had some very good troops... and other not so good.

The best, by far, was the 4th Navarrese division. Perhaps at the same level of the Foreign Legion or the Regulars.

Of the Republicans, one of the best units was the 82nd Mixed Brigade... At least up to Teruel. Afterwards they suffered decimation as punishment for mutiny. Apparently they have been in the frontline for 9 months without rest, and after Teruel the Republican High Command wanted to send them to another hot spot. And thus they went to strike!  :o... The Government wouldn't allow it, so they surrounded the unit with troops and then casted lots to select who would be shot... I don't remember exactly the numbers but I believe some 40 or perhaps 50 soldiers were shot for military rebellion.

The rest of the unit submitted. I don't know the rest of the story, but I'll look for it if you're interested.

After Listers Division fled at Brunete (despite their reputation for Iron Discipline) 400 !!! of them were shot. Madness.

Well, but afterall, they were no permanent standing army, but militias of royalist insurgents, of varying quality.

So, it´s mainly down to what organisation level one wants to allow them, and the level of equipment. That said, it´s still in the early stages, so they´ll certainly be included, and they still might get their own section.

Depends on the year.

In 1936 and early 1937 you are right. They were militias, though motivated. From middle 1937 onwards, probably most of the new recruits were not as well motivated like the earlier drafts, but they were more veterans. Actually, towards the end of the war (say Spring 1938) they were practically the same as any other Nationalist regular unit.
