Boer Wagons
« on: 03 January 2012, 12:04:55 PM »
Hi,

I'm looking for 28mm oxen traction Boer Wagons. Foundry used to have a nice one but it's OOP.  :(

Redoubt Miniatures have a 28mm Boer wagon:

http://www.redoubtenterprises.com/shop/?page=shop/browse&category_id=3bf7695c7b8566a63e533528ce771ef9

Sadly there is no photo on the website. I have the model and it is a nice one, quite large (in scale with Redoubts larger/taller figures).

Sorry for my lack of specific knowledge but I can think of two styles of wagon in use by the boer (that I associate with them anyway) but I can't remember if it mattered whether it was pulled by horses or oxen. There is the one that comes up in a curve towards the back and there is a flat one with angled but almost flat sides that come off like wings.  No idea of their names sorry. Which are you after?

Some creative Googling and:

Voortrekker wagon (the one that comes up at the back)

And the 'historical boer wagon'

You know what, I've only ever seen them in old photo's and never compared them side by side before. Is it infact the same wagon but with it's sides down?!?

This is identical to the Redoubt one. If I get a chance at the weekend I'll take a photo of it.

So does anyone have any scale plans for Boer Wagons???

I have a bunch of pics and some pics of scale models but it would be easier if some plans were available so these could be massed produced in miniature.... ;)

The flat Ox wagon is available as a great looking lasercut kit frim these guys
http://www.4ground.co.uk/Default.aspx?page=268&pid=115

I've seen the 'sprue' that it's cut on and it's seperate to the rest of the pieces so I see no reason why they can't sell it seperately... I'd ask myself but then I'd feel obliged to buy them and right now I don't need them :)
