Wow! Great batrep! Sucks I won't be playing tonight or next week (on a cruise)...

Thanks, styx!
Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
I feel your pain!
 ;)

Good AAR again though Mason, and it looked like a very characterful game even if it was hard on poor Smoke Zombie.

Think the Socttish Office and Thames Valley Division need to call in the lads from the Irish team - they're nails!

It was a good, tense game, mate.
I think smokezombie did well in a tough situation.

Dont worry about the Irish Lads- They will get theirs too!
 :D

....bloody maniacs...

Maniacs really are my favourite Lurkers.
They will give everyone a serious case of the jitters eventually.

Problem is as you build up, so do the Lurkers...to me striking early when a team is young is often better...

Oh, yes!
That is when it gets to be fun for the Lurker player, too!
 :D

YET ANOTHER INSTANCE OF SCOTS ON THE ROCKS! COOL report & LOVELY photos.

Thanks, Al!
I love your phrasology.
It always makes me grin.
 :)

Guess you could say they was caught with their kilts down (or is it up?)!

 lol
Behave!

Back tomorrow with a few more pics from the second of smokezombies forays...

Right then, a quick round-up of smokezombies second game, The Bagman.

This time I dropped the Zombies and a Maniac in favour of more Guards and another one of the Mad Scientist's experiments- The Trained(?) Ape.
I used Missing Link stats for him.

smokezombie was advancing towards the Lurker table edge in an attempt to close with the enemy and enable the Bagman to break through the Asylum lines.
The Asylum Staff had positioned themselves to try and defend their deployment zone, whilst the Ape and the Maniac advanced to assault the Agents before they go there.

The Ape, being only barely trained, was taking its frustrations out on anything in the vicinity.

The Scottish Agents were advancing more warily once they heard the mad bellowing of the beast!

The Ape broke cover and charged the team.

The Ape quickly took down one of the Ministry team, but was gunned down in turn by every available weapon in the Ministry arsenal.

Before the team could recover, they were promptly charged by a Manic, who took down another of the team.
The biggest problem for the Highlanders was that Big Al was carrying the Bag!

Seeing the Bag on the floor, one of the Guards was ordered forward to grab it and run.

The Guard was heading for the table edge before the rest of the team could catch him, as they had to expend all their efforts to deal with the Maniac.

The Guard was almost there when he was gunned down by the dynamite-toting Reverend Green, who had positioned himself up high with his .45.

The downed guard was squealing on the ground in agony, the Bag forgotten.

Unfortunately for the Ministry team another Guard ran forwards and grabbed the Bag from his screaming companion and left the table.

The Agents of His Majesty had been thwarted again!

This game was unbarably close. An inch and the fleeing guard with the bag would have unwittingly run into the blas zone of a stock of dynamite ( detonated remotely by the rev) and I might have pulled a victory out of the bag...as it were.

A mixed game tho. A badly placed bagman by me.  Forgot my leader hates maniacs and has a tight sporran. Which meant he would have stood his ground instead of fleeing as the crazed nurse charged. Fortunately he gunned her down ( and the ape) with some truly spectacular, through a doorway tommygunning ( criticals at last!)

Injury wise was good. All minor injurys or full recovery. We live to fight again tho Captain D Jackson feels a seance of burning shame at having lost an agent, left an agent in the crypt and lost the bag... He has now gone AWOL. presumably to bad a trophy and prove his worth.

Aubrey old bean your assistance is most definitely required.

But could not make the sickle yield."

I broke my normal morning routine of moaning softly & staring into space while clutching the first cup of coffee long enough to read The Report & ogle the photos. EXCELLENT STUFF!

That's where I'm at with it, Deafnala. I just love drooling over the terrain that Mason has going on. I'm considering selling off my extensive boardgame collection just to make room for more terrain of my own!

Speaking of scenery, I have recently finished a new piece that will work well for the Strange Aeons period.
I will sort out some pictures tomorrow...

Awesome reports Mason!  :-*

I'm really enjoying the way you are outsourcing from different miniature lines.

It certainly keeps thing interesting.  :D

For some reason that sentence really made me smile! The whole concept of the tight sporan is a funny one! Possibly not for the sporran wearer, of course o_o

Bad luck, Mr Zombie - you were close on this one, mate, and did enough to deserve a win. That Mason's a wily old ape though, and knows a trick or two (you should see him go at a banana with his feet... ;)).

You'll get a win soon, I'm sure - sounded like another good game though.

And fine AAR Mason - I echo what the chaps have said, your scenery makes the games superb, sir! :)

Great report!!! Especially love the 'tight sporran'...I don't love a tight sporran...but you get the idea. Not ideas about tight sporrans...but you understand what I'm saying? Right...?

There's a football (soccer) player in the UK called Jermain McSporran! Dunno if he even wears one though, so I couldn't speculate on the level of comfort it affords...

Gotta love this forum, though - how many other games would you get posts from the actual creator of the game? :D

While I'm on here, Mike, and apologies in advance to all for blatant fanboy behaviour (slightly :P), can I please pass on my congratulations for Strange Aeons - easily the best game I have played since Mordheim! It's a truly fantastic game, mate - it's gone down an absolute storm with our gaming group, and we've all got involved (ably aided and abetted by Mason's superb scenery and wonderfully genial hosting skills ;)). It also captures the excitement and feel of the Cthulhu mythos, which I remember with nostalgic fondness when I picked up the Games Workshop/Chaosium CoC RPG rule book back in the late 80s. Very well done for a great, great game sir :-*.

There, sicophantic praise delivered! In my defence I never get to convey my views to the games designer directly ;D

Gushing girly moment over; back to being the grumpy old misanthrope I usually am...

Thanks, aggro!
My only problem is that I cannot stop 'sourcing' so the lead pile for SA keeps growing.
What was going to be a small side project shows no sign of stopping growing.

I am sure you will enjoy yourself without SA.

Oi!
Bloody cheek!

Here is the latest piece of scenery to be finished.
It has been made with SA and Mordheim in mind, so I tried to keep it as generic as possible.

The Warehouse/Barn

A few closer shots with members of the Asylum Staff to show scale.

Hope that you like it...

I see Dr Hugh Zass is up to his old tricks. No doubt using the warehouse to store his diabolical serum.
