Vintage for us but contemporary for the cultists Deaf Nala  :D
"The sword sung on the barren heath,
The sickle in the fruitful field;
The sword he sung a song of death,
But could not make the sickle yield."

Thanks, chaps!
The cover is not blown if there are no surviving witnesses... ;)

I finally managed to get some painting done.
It has been a while and I really enjoyed getting another piece of scenery painted up.

The War Memorial

I cannot lay any claim to making the lovely War Memorial, as it was made for me by Bezzo as part of a trade.
I just painted it.

It is a lovely construction and fits my British Strange Aeons project perfectly.
Thanks Bezzo!

Here it is from another angle.

I have overdone it with the lighting a little, but you get the idea.

Bezzo provided the 'Tommy' statue on the top, but I decided to make a few optional statues to use as alternative toppers, so that it could be used in other games too.
Here is one of them that can also be used in SA:

I got this one at BLAM, in the secret miniature swap, where you all donate a 28mm scale miniature and then draw one of them randomly out of the hat.
The idea is to paint up the one that you got and enter it into a fun painting competition.
This is my entry for that.

I have one more for SA, but need to set up an appropriate scene and take a picture...

Cracking! I
like the wounded soldier version the best Mason. It fits in more with the sort of things you see in real life.
Some of the real stuff you see are amazing works of art and full of emotion. I'm rather a fan of the one at the bottom of my common.

Cheers, mate!
As soon as I got that in the BLAM lucky dip I knew what it had to be.
It is a lovely sculpt and just had to be used.
It turns out that it was Hammers who brought it, so; Thanks, Hammers!

Nice!

Thanks, styx!

I have taken a picture of the other Strange Aeons- themed statue topper and will pop that up later...

These are both fantastic Mason! You have excelled yourself yet again, my man. Both are superb, but I agree with Smoke Zombie that the one you picked up at Blam is the best. Love the Tommy as well, mind you. Excellent, both oose character. Fantastic bronze effect in teh painting, very well done :).

The BLAM one has the added bonus of also being lower and therefore more likely to survive a visit from Bullock!
 ;)

Very Lucky!

SA would be perfect for your Witchfinder project with a little modification for period weapons.

Your memorial idea is officially stolen!

I just got a couple of CP minis and bought the plinth to make more sense of the P+P

You dirty thief!
 ;)
Go for it, mate.
Every British town and village needs a War Memorial!

The only problem is that sometimes things can go wrong in the more rural villages, and can attract the attentions of various Cults. Sometimes these smaller communities can become the hub of Cult activity and even the war memorials are not safe!

Here is evidence of one such village coming under the influence of the Cult of the Purple-Headed Worm, and replacing the original statue with something much more sinister....

The worship of Idols can be a serious problem and can lead to the Ministry of Occult Studies (England) being called in and drastic action taking place.

Vigilance is a must as the Realm comes under the threat of Eldritch Powers.
Learn to recognise the signs...

You have been warned!

The more clever Cultist suggested having the Idol with a helmet or trench cap to deceive the unknowing. That aside, the alternate Statues, both good & evil, are VERY WELL DONE!
In older towns over here in The States, there are often Memorial Statues in the town squares. Over in Llano, there's one to "the Confederate Dead". It's a favorite with moi; re, coming from New York, I'm in favor of dead Confederates.
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx
