She's definitely not in the Itsy Bitsy Spider Class. That is one BIG NASTY Yet Stylish in Pink Spider...GREAT brushwork. VERY WELL DONE!

It is from the WotC Star Wars range.
Some kind of Dagobah tree thing....I will let you know the proper name if I can remember it.

WOW, scary bugger!!!

It certainly scares the Threshold/M.O.O.S.(E). players when you leave it on the side of the table and they are wondering if it is going to be entering play as a Lurker!  :D

Time for the second game from last week.

Again it was an investigation by the Thames Valley Division, after they had recovered from their mauling at the hands of the Crowman and his Pumpkin-headed Scarecrows.

Aubrey would be brandishing his new scars like a weapon as he would be Hideous from now on, while Betty was suffering from Agoraphobia and would have to stay near cover, her fear of the open an obvious thing...

This time the mission was Retrieve the Artifacts.

Bert was pretty keen to play this as he had run out of Map Pieces and was keen to acquire some more so that he could hire another Medic Special Agent.
This mission should provide the opportunity if his luck was in....

The same set up was used as in the Free For All, with the M.O.O.S.(E).  team moving on from the left side of the table.

The chests that needed to be found were spread across the centre line of the table.
The first was at the top of the table hidden behind the wall.
The second was by the car parked at the rear of the Chapel, the third in the Chapel yard, whilst the last one was at the bottom edge of the table between the wall and tree.

The team from the Valley made their way gingerly forward, well aware that they no longer had the services of a Medic to call upon.
Aubrey lead the first group along the bottom of the table, consisting of himself, Isaac and Father deBetta, stopping at the hedge beyond the Undertakers to survey the area.
Meanwhile the ladies, Betty and Gloria made for the Chapel.

The Cult of the Purple-Headed Worm were in no mood to allow the Agents of His Majesty free rein, though, and were advancing swiftly through the Graveyard to intercept them....

The Thames Valley team were reluctant to reveal themselves, and snuck carefully about trying to advance on the crates laying tantalizingly about in the centre of the board.

The Purple-clad fiends took full advantage of this careful approach from the M.O.O.S.(E). team and advanced into good positions from which to launch an ambush...

....finding an easily defended corner of the Graveyard....

...a conveniently parked delivery van....

....and another group had started to sneak up on the Chapel.

While the Cultists had been busy sneaking up to the Chapel through the Graveyard, Betty and Gloria were advancing on the other side of the Chapel, awiting their chance to catch the Cultists in a crossfire......

Whilst Aubrey and Isaac covered his advance from the hedgerow....

.... Father deBetta snuck forwards and searched the first crate...

....only to find it full of dirty, used jockstraps of a sickly Purple hue.

Urggghhh!!!

While the good Father wrinkled his nose in disgust, the Cult were ready to spring their trap!

Would the Cult catch the valiant Agents unawares?

Would Betty and Gloria suceed in sneaking up on the hooded fiends?

Could Father deBetta ever get that smell off of his hands?

All will be revealed.

Soon!

To be continued.......

Fantastic AAR for the second game so far Mason. The suspenders are killin' me...what were they doing with the rest of the Purple Headed Worms' undies anyway?

Fantastic AAR for the second game so far Mason. The suspenders are killin' me...what were they doing with the rest of the Purple Headed Worms' undies anyway?

We shall see......

Having opened the crate and rapidly dropping his findings, Father deBetta looked up to see two Cultists rush from behind the parked van....

He had been so intent on the crate that he had not noticed their arrival.
He quickly fell to a shotgun blast, as the Cultists moved forward to recover their underwear.

Meanwhile, the Thompsom-armed leader of the Cultists took aim from the corner of the graveyard, and opened fire on Isaac.......

........sending him spinning to the ground, silent.

Lastly that turn, the Cult Leader ordered the Maniac to use Heroic to charge Betty and Gloria...

....unfortunately for Gloria she quickly fell to the crazed lunatic, who advanced menacingly on Betty.

Betty was equally outclassed by the crazed attentions of the Loony and she too fell in turn...

Unfortunately for him, this left Aubrey alone in the way of the Cult...

How would he fare?

Could he stand against the Maniac that was bellowing in front of him?

To be concluded later...

.......Things were looking really bad for Aubrey.
Not only did he have a screaming Maniac advancing on him, but also the rest of the Cultists following up waiting for the chance to bring their guns to bear.

Aubrey surveyed the scene as he waited for the Maniac to charge, drawing his service-issue sword and gritting his teeth as she came at him, wailing like a Banshee!

Aubrey took advantage of her impetousness and managed to impale her through the hedge, giving the sword a vicious twist to finish her off. He had acquired vengeance for the ladies in his charge. He hoped they were not injured too badly.

Looking up he saw that there was a shotgun-toting Cultist following the Maniac, trying to creep up on him using the car and wall as cover....

......Realising this was extreme range for his .45 he took aim and gently squeezed the trigger, calmly blowing the hooded head apart. What a shot! Those hours on the shooting range had really paid off.

He checked the other end of the Chapel, where a Cultist with a Tommy gun had taken up position. He had obviously not spotted Aubrey in his rush and revealed himself around the corner, trying to spot the  Ministry man...

....unfortunately for him, he himself had been spotted and remained in the open for too long. Aubrey took aim again. Another great shot!

Aubrey had dealt with three of his asailants thus far.

Could his luck hold?

Steeling himself for the rush that he knew was coming, Aubrey took what cover he could from the hedge.

The remaining members of the Cult rushed around the front of the Chapel, guns blazing, but in their eagerness, they all missed Aubrey completely!

Maybe his luck really was in...

....but no, it was not to be.

Aiming his revolver at the Cult leader he heard a fateful click as he pulled the trigger.
His trusty .45 had Jammed!

The last three Cultists took advantage of his distraction and took the opportunity to open fire, riddling the hedge with bullets and taking down the brave man from M.O.O.S.(E). in the process.

Aubrey had fought well, but numbers had eventually counted against him as he fell to the Cultists.

The Cultists were soon rejoicing, claiming their belongings and making offerings to their Dark Gods....

A bad day at the office for the Thames Valley Division...

Love it! Where would a cultist be without a good sturdy pair of undies. I think Aubrey could have done with a quick change of undergarments himself after all that.
Top top top AAR.

The sickle in the fruitful field;
The sword he sung a song of death,
But could not make the sickle yield."

Being impaled through the hedge is no way to treat a lady :o, but needs must and all that :D

Aubrey was actually using the sword cane gifted to him by the Minister, Sir Tunnly-Gaye. It is part weapon, part walking aid! He took a nasty cleaver blow to his left leg early in his career. This left him with a profound limp and an abiding wariness towards maniacs! I was glad he managed to take down that cow with the teddy bear this time around 8). Not quite what he would prefer to confront when considering a flame-haired vixen with a teddy...

He has already sent his laundry bill to the Ministry - luckily he does favour a pair of brown suit trousers already! lol

Great pair of games, and although I lost both I thoroughly enjoyed myself thanks to Mason's fine GMing. :)

Bring on the next set of games...

Sorry, mate, I totally forgot about the sword-cane.
Yep, the poor chap has certainly been through the wars.
Arm Wound, Leg Wound and Horribly Disfigured- he has certainly been battered about a bit!
Poor fella....

I forgot to mention the post-battle sequence.
Bert had been a little fortunate when the injury rolls were first made, as Isaac and Father deBetta were the only ones to sustain Major Injuries.

The Good Father lived to fight another day, while Isaac was struck by Ballistophobia.
As he already suffers from this we decided that the best thing would be to say that he now has Severe Ballistophobia and has to take tests at a +1 penalty.

Sonded fair enough to both of us.
Anyone have any other thoughts on this?

So much for Good triumphing over Evil; this won't cut it with Hollywood.
Now that the Chapel is firmly in the Cultists' control a new name springs to mind: The First Church of the Gooey Death & Discount House of Worship (Don Imus gets credit for the name).
