Oh, as a zombie gamer, I will certainly try this out myself as soon as I get the chance!

I have missed the first one, but made sure I've found it! What profiles you had in mind as a "zombie" - basic zombie profile, blasphemous construct and zombie dogs only? So no command?

The Command problem was solved by allowing 'Leader Zombies', which cost an extra 2BP and then gain the Command skill, which may only be used on other  Zombies.
(Basically the 'Queen' rules from the Test Island 3 Black Dossier).

Buying three 'Leaders' and nominating one, who then uses Command to nominate two other 'Leader's', (who can then nominate a further two other Zombies each, meaning seven can act in each turn) should replicate a Zombie herd or swarm quite well.

Add in the 'Spawning ' rules and you have a pretty effective Zombie scenario!

Ask Bert: It works!
 ;)

I have seen the reports, poor Bert! :D

That is a nice concept, actually! I was thinking I'd enable zombies to move by the system (range in los, "sounds" etc), but I'd need to play more than one game to find the balance of it all. Well, cheers for sharing!  :D

I say, some brilliant Dossier work going on here.  :-*

Carry on.

This Black Dossier came about from an attempt to write a Survivor set of rules based on the Strange Aeons system, so those sort of activation rules have been tested and tinkered with, and I think that they worked OK.

I had to abandon the whole Survivor Group thing as only one of my group was keen enough to play it, the rest wanted to continue with SA as it is.
I liked the Zombie Apocalypse idea, though, so decided to make a Black Dossier out of it instead and Bert volunteered to be the first victim guinea pig.
 :D

We may go back and develop the whole Survivor group thing properly later, though.

Thanks, Mr. Peabody, I shall!
Scenario #3 will be up soon, as it has been played, I just need to write some stuff for it and sort out the pictures.....

I need to try that Zombie herd rule!! Thank you for the idea!!

Thanks, einarolafson!
Much appreciated.
I have to admit that it was your Scene of Terror with the horses that first gave me the idea of a zombie base last year.

And now you are inspiring me to do another Scene of Horror!!  :o ;D

Black Dossier? I must have blinked somewhere and missed the background on this. Where do I go to find out more?

Try it, it works.
Really!
You just have to be a little conservative with your 'Queen' zombies to protect them.
Looking forward to your next 'Scene'....oh, yes!

Thrilling through and through

Thanks, Doc!

A Black Dossier is a series of linked scenarios that a team becomes 'locked' into until they complete them, in order, or the team is killed.
A Black Dossier normally occurs when a team wins five games in a row, but as we are playing a campaign which I am GMing, all the teams will automatically be given a Dossier to complete after they have played ten games with their teams regardless of their record.
 ;)

Shocking Tales 3 has a couple of different examples of Dossier and it is still in print.
The others are available in PDF format.

Speaking of Black Dossiers.....

Scenario #3 of This Green and Unpleasant Land is called; Night of the Living and Dead.

In this scenario the table is set up by the Threshold player as they see fit to represent an area that they will be trying to defend from an assault by the Infected.

Legionnaire Bert opted to set up the table in this manner, preferring to use the scenery that we had already used in the previous scenario.

He built himself a compound to defend.
You can see the starting positions of his team.
They had to defend the two stacks of supplies in the centre of the table.

The Lurkers would begin play in contact with ANY table edge.

Back later with the report and pictures of the game itself....

The set up looks rife for an exciting adventure; a heroic last stand ala Zulu...that explains why Men of Harlech is playing through my mind. I'll get the popcorn ready.

It does bear more than a passing resemblance to Rorke's Drift, doesn't it?
Lets hope the Agents of His Majesty can hold out against the Infected horde!

I will try to get the report up tomorrow if I get time.
I did not manage it today as I was busy with our first game of In Her Majesty's Name, which was great fun.

So much so that I think that will become my main project for this year.

Better late than never....I hope.

The pictures and brief report of Scenario #3

The table as it was set up by Bert following the Scenario rules.

Rorke's Drift....it has been mentioned.

The team were begining to get a little jittery as the silence of the night is disturbed by sounds of stumbling movement and moaning, punctuated by the occasional scream.

Miss Stitts had one side of the makeshift corral covered.

Randy was covering another approach.

The Infected began to stumble into view through the mist.

While a Maniac crept up on the team from the other side of the stockade.

The first of the Infected found a broken window and climbed through.

The rest of the horde followed them.
It seems these poor unfortunate souls retain some of their previous intelligence.
 :o

The dead came pouring out of the cabin and into the improvised compound.
Much to the horror of Randy, who was in their immediate path!

Randy was the first of the team to fall to the undead horde, swiftly followed by Patrick the Postie.
The Maniac chose this moment to launch her blood-curdling attack and swiftly dealt with Father deBetta.

The team were under extreme pressure from this moment on as the last three standing members gunned down the remaining Zombies and Aubrey pulled another miracle shot out of somewhere to down the Maniac as she was about to charge!

Aubrey led the survivors in making sure that all the dead were indeed 'DEAD' this time.
Starting with that damned Maniac!

It was time to see to the rest of the team and tend to their wounds.

The Thames Valley Division had survived another night in This Green and Unpleasant Land.

They really did not want to spend too many more nights here, though......
