Doug em4's BLAM AAR - M.O.O.S.(E)- Ministry of Occult Studies (England) UD:05/11
« Reply #2130 on: 05 November 2013, 12:01:43 PM »
Here is Doug em4's AAR from the four-player game he played last weekend at BLAM.
He originally posted this in the BLAM section, but as most would not have seen it there he has kindly given me permission to repost it here.

He has forgotten a few of the minor details but who can blame him?
As he played so many great games afterwards it is easy to understand how this could happen.
 ;)

I finally got to play SA...!

The board was gorgeous (those vehicles...!) and the figures tremendous. In the excitement, I've forgotten the name of my contingent but the rank and file were described as cowardly and cruel and the maniac wore a rather fetching costume and had a wonderful name which I've also forgotten but maybe Paul can jog my memory.

Some photos:

Some cowardly and cruel henchmen arriving at the jetty

A slightly blurry picture of the board with the jetty in the foreground and everyone's initial objective, the Cult of the Purple Worm, in the centre (under the Giant Hand)

The Purple Worm, enjoying some peaceful cult activity, unaware of some nasty zombie types creeping up in the background

I just love that bus

More cruel and cowardly arrivals

M.O.O.S.E. agents ariving by Bentley to the left, zombies at the top, cruel and cowardlys not in sight

The Mad Scientist sends his undead against the Purple Wormers

Much slaughter amongst the Cult by the Mad Scientist's (or was he a Mad Doctor?) maniac. Also, another fleeting glimpse of the Giant Hand

My cowardly and cruels adopt a perfect jumping-off point and a rear shot of my maniac (definitely her best side - trust me)

Death strikes my cowardly and cruels - a withering fire from one of the Scientist's (or was he a Doctor?) men

One of my cowardly and cruel types succeeeds in making off with one of the Cult's boxes but reverts to type (cowardly) when a ghost appears

The Mad Scientist (Doctor?) behind the Dunlop van at the top, makes a final attempt to prevent the M.O.O.S.E, survivors from making off with some Cult chests. Plunging hypodermics one after the other into himself to gain extra strength, he eventually succumbs, leaving M.O.O.S.E. in possession of several objectives. In the foreground, my cowardly and ccruel is kept from the treasure chest by the ghost

I eventually manage to get one chest to the jetty but most of my contingent, including the leader and maniac, are killed.

Thanks for the game, Paul - great fun. Now, remind me of my maniac's name again.......

Doug

The Maniac's name was Frau Von Schlappen-Tikkal.

Oh, the madness! Truly gorgeous gaming...
Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

 Wink

I've already forgotten which minor details I've forgotten. I think it's more to do with old age than anything elase so show some respect, you whippersnapper....!

Great game which is threatening to interrupt my VBCW obsession - must resist.

Cheers, Doug.
I was only referring to the names of the leader and Maniac etc.
Your Rogue Agent is known as the Grinning Rictus, and not the Gurning Rectum as Dirty Bertie likes to call him.

With me it is the other way around: VBCW keeps calling me, and with the models I already have it would be easily done....
Must resist!
(For now... :D)

The vehicles keep distracting me from all the other goodies on display. Everything looks very special, but that Harrod's lorry and the Omnibus just keep drawing my eyes.

must resist.

Utter futility if you ask me, just give in to the madness!  :)
The whole set-up looks fantastic and glad to hear you enjoy it so much.
Now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb...

Thanks for the compliment, Verd!
The set-up was only possible with the help of Thunderchicken and Eric the Shed though.

Thanks, moonshado.
The bus does seem to be a favourite with most people.

Yep, gotta agree: Resistance is futile.
Just give in, Doug.
You know you want to!

Your choice of words always makes me laugh, mate.

Well, that is the end of the pretty pictures as far as I am aware.
I have taken a couple of rather more boring ones to prove that Cultist #13 is at last finished and shall upload that tomorrow as proof.
Just got to sort out the bases and then the Cultists are done.

Still a little space and time before casting them, though....

A couple of pretty crap pictures showing Cultist #13 in his finished state...

I shall have to sort out a better photo set-up, (which has been pretty touch and go since I moved) and will take some better pictures of the whole Cult once they all have their integral bases fitted.

He is one big, creepy Dude...wearing the hood is more of a fashion statement with this Guy than a Cult thing. GREAT WORK!

Thanks, Amigo!
I hope to sort out a better picture set-up soon, so that when I take pictures of all of them on their integral bases you can actually see them properly.

Not sure he looks the kind of person to know what a fashion statement was, but if he did and you suggested he wore the hood for that reason, I'm fairly certain he is the kind of person whose response would be to bash your brains out with his baseball bat. All in all, he looks a big evil sod.

I think that you may be right on both counts, moonshado.
