You certainly have some painting ahead :)

You absolutely have to! And the pre-sequel isn´t that bad either. I recommend to watch the newer movie first if you haven´t seen both yet, because it tells the story chronologically.

I missed this before Anpu, and I'm glad I've caught it now. It's utterly amazing, that 'game' that you played recently looked horrifying!! ... I may need to pass a die roll to watch any more updates :)

Do the things grow in size over time, like aliens after each kill? It looked like it did in the pictures - but that was probably just new spawns.

Cheers
Matt.

Good start, Anpu, like the table with the thing on it. I really have to see the movie.

That really is a great 'rebirth' for the project.
 ;) :-*

I may well be stealing a few of your ideas for my Asylum as they will cross over very well.

You guys really HAVE to see both of them.
The original is an all time classic, I am surprised that there are people who have NOT seen it.
You wont regret it....apart from the nightmares!

Absolutely agree with Michi.  I watched them back-to-back one day during the Xmas holidays and they flow very well from one to the other.  8)

Thanks for the replies. The films are definetely worth watching. The size of this project is a bit daunting. There is not "only" painting the figures but making a minimum of one board with a research station, but also making all the cards and the rules.
The Things do not grow over time, just by absorbing mass. The game was not mine but a cooperation between Vikotnik and Zafarelli using my figures at a convention ( I was busy running a fallout game at the time.)

Encounter tables will be replaced by spawn cards I think.
Still having a bit of trouble with the rules but will do some mockup search, spawn and event cards and try out some of the more simple variants of the rules. I have some ideas that should work for the AI of the Things and keep the game a mainly optionally cooperative with no player controlling the Things on the board.
Spawn points will mainly be corpses and perhaps some set points on the board.
The different main characters will have different sets of objectives besides survival.

I still have to decide to keep it an -80s setting or go near future to scifi.

Sorry for the lengthy post without any eyecandy...

Whoa totally missed this project! Love it so much. Quite jealous!

Just want to give an opposite view on seeing the films. If you have never seen them the prequel copies the dramatic beats of the original so closely that it will spoil the impact of the original which is far superior and a genuine classic. Imagine how all of the great plot surprises of star wars are spoilt by watching the prequels first? That. Watching chronologically is more fun if you already have seen the original! Just my tuppence worth about one of my favourite films!

Great restart mate! I look forward to the base :) Will you use the same stuff you did for Alien or build completely new?

Thanks!
Hopefully there will be an 1982 type station unless I decide to go the scifi route and use the Alien Colony buildings.
