Fram repurposes various figures (update 10/15 Orc Hero)
« on: April 27, 2012, 04:37:20 PM »
I have normally only been putting my figures up in the "what did you paint this month?" threads, but it seems like most folks just put them in their respective forums. So here y'go.

All my figures are converted Mage Knight figures. Which is to say I snap off the horrible figure and replace it with a metal mini (or in some rare cases clean the original figure with acetone and repaint it)

I'm actually pretty satisfied with this fellow. Came out the best to date, I think.

This is a slight conversion of an Andreas Ithandir (Here's the pre-paint shot showing the conversion)

That is one cool looking miniature you converted and painted. Great! Are you actually playing Mage Knight (coming to think about it, stupid question. Why else would you put it on that base)?

Well, I play when I can. Can't say as there are as many Mage Knight players as they're used to be, but it's a simple enough game (we used to call it Warhammer for Dummies) and I have a large enough collection to provide multiple armies in any faction.

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that a good face distracts from a multitude of other painting errors.  lol

Next figure in the pipe: A conversion of a Willy-Miniatures blood bowl/elfball figure for use in conventional fantasy.

That shoulder plate is the first thing I've ever really fully sculpted in green stuff!

Despite the disclaimer it looks like you have a deft touch with the paint brush & with the conversion work. WELL DONE!

An excellent start, then.  Here's to much more!

Thanks guys.  :D

It's funny. I was searching for the right sort of figure to use as a replacement for an existing Barbarian/Amazon warrior, but even though there must be thousands of such figures, I could never find one that had the look of the figures in the original game. Finally one comes along that's at least close enough to convert and it's a football figure of all things!

And here's a group shot of that particular warband

From left to right: Slightly converted Reaper (Depora Azinrae), Mage Knight strip-and-repaint (Magus Draconum), Converted Willy-Miniature (Sara), Andreas (Ithandir), and a homebrew chopped-and-rebuilt Mage Knight strip-and-repaint (made from several figures).

I think this is one of my all-time favourite miniatures. Been sitting on it for almost ten years before feeling comfortable enough to paint him.

Looking good there both on the conversions and the repaints. As much as i hated MK when it first came out. And would not even look over the line and called it an abomination the line does have some nice figs that do come in handy.
Of this lot i am liking the Geddion Longblade proxy best of all. A GW High Elf. Is it a straight model or a conversion? I really do like the paint scheme. It is nice and crisp and colorful. Really nice execution on the model. Keep up the good work and post more when you can. :-)
