« on: 19 June 2012, 06:35:30 AM »
Heya all,

nostalgy and grumpyness have finally hit us here big time:
big enough to dig old toys from the boxes and try to assemble playable Warzone forces lol
Therefore I found these and gave them new piccies on brand new background - more to come ;D

Nice minis and terrain.  :-* I have a soft spot for WZ minis. Can we see more of your terrain please?

Cheers all - great to know some people still like old games and stuff.
Especially in ghastly times of failcast and ripoffs hobby era ;D

Nice paint on those :)

Warzone was very much a style of its own, with lots of chunky miniatures. I wasn't a huge fan of many of the troops but the Bauhaus Vulkan/Viktor battlesuits are my favourite walkers ever (with a few simple mods).

I look forward to seeing more of your painted troops/vehicles though :)

Which sucks. Because just when they were getting resculpts done here in the States, Target US shut down. :-(

Nice work on the figs and backdrop. I've got fond memories of Warzone as well.

I'm gonna steal that backdrop idea, if you don't mind.

No problem :)
There's a tutorial on my site about making this display base (which will be printed in GF zine shortly 8) ).
I already have another similar project in mind when things here get easier...

Lovely!
great painting and background.

While it's true some figs were pretty dire, the very first releases were sculpts by Mark Copplestone and Kevin Adams! They were ahead of their time with the chunky sculpts. The wolfbanes for example are the size of todays' GW marine scouts!

Warzone almost took off in my hometown. Most stores seemed to carry it, and one had a very extensive offering. I think it was the 'superchunk' figures (I believe they were the Brotherhood?) that turned me off- for some reason I felt like they represented the range. Of course I was wrong about that, there's some really nice sculpts. I even bought the box set about a year ago...

Thanks for sharing the pics!
