They had human heads sticking out of the top of the body, with a metal collar around them to protect them.
Thx :)

@Willypold: Nice job!
I have no idea the model I painted came from (some kind of master cast of something?) but it was MUCH bigger than this one and 100% metal...

I know it's probably an impossibility but I'd love to see a company revisit Mutant Chronicles and Warzone to create miniatures that more closely match the artwork.
What he said!
I really love artwork P.Bonner did for Warzone and would love to see miniatures matching them properly.

 This topic has had me digging out my old books and looking through them.There are loads of miniatures missing from the range which have stats in the different books.

 I would have loved to have seen the Barking Spiders or Dogsoldiers.

 Paul Bonner is a great artist.He did some great work on the Vor the Maelstrom range too.Another great concept for a miniatures game.A real shame the kickstarter for a new version never made it.

I found these in the weird war section (they show the heads sticking out):

@manic_miner: You mean FFG Warzone?
Sadly I am not surprised the thing died shortly after the birth. I can imagine they were trying sth new and maybe innovative but quality of minis was just really bad - from my point of view...
I didn't even care about the scale and the fact these were prepaints but such a huge company could get decent sculptors.
After all they sell board games with sweet models included ::)

@Inso: Thanks :)

Hi!

@manic_miner I suspect the reason the Vor kickstarter failed was that unlike some of the big success stories like Mantics Kings of War or Sedition Wars is that the givaways were a bit poor.

About the best one could expect from it was a copy of the rulebook which just didnt fire peoples imagination, especially as the writer kept it so tightly under wrap and there was very little or no concept art.

Now if he had made a basic rulebook with the core rules and released it as a pdf and a couple of miniatures sculpted up he would probably had quite a lot more interest now it looks like a new Vor is never going to happen, especially after the forum was taken down by Skuzzy, possibly because the only topics which got any attention was the ones asking for news on what was going on...

I'd really love to see someone take on the Warzone and Chronopia settings again and actually make a proper job of it this time, unlike the horror of the plastic FFG effort.

Its got such a fantastic setting along with some really interesting forces but due to it failing three times now I suspect its unlikely to ever resurface which is a real shame!

Saying that if they could jump on the kickstarter band wagon they could fund an initial set of releases to get them going. Oh well one can dream!

All the best!

 The Barking Spiders and Dogsoldiers were from the Casualties of War book which Target released.It also has some other cool units and characters which were never produced.

 Have a look at this post on the Excelsior forums.

http://forum54.oli.us/index.php/topic,7056.0.html

 Francesco has done a great job on this piece.Looking forward to the release.He also has other pieces which he has done.

 The FFG Warzone range could have been great in a smaller scale.Having to sort out scenery and such for a new scale is too much for some gamers.

 It would be great to see Warzone and Chronopia done again.Not sure if it will happen though.

 I think Vor would have been great to have seen again.A real shame the forums are down too.Loved the Pharon and would have liked to have seen more miniatures released for the range.

About the Bonner art, ever notices how virtually all characters wear the same kind of boots? With no laces and a  thin flat sole that looks nothing like modern military footwear? I thought this silly and it was the only thing that bothered me about hte otherwise great painting style.

If there would be a Warzone kickstarter, I'd sell my house to fund it :D
Would be awesome to have Warzone alive again...and while we're at it, also do Mutant Chronicles. Never played it, but the rulebook looked really nice and the rules seemed to have potential. Would be great to replay the first book of In Lunacy-Frenzy-Dementia

Sadly I have never played DT videogame - only saw some on youtube :(
As for the movie - it was worse disaster than FFG Warzone: I mean come on! All goodie character cooperating? No nepharite? No razide? All Dark Legion lookking the same? Meeeeeeeh :-[

Never thought about it but really liked the fact most of shoes were so easy to paint: snakepite leather, flesh wash and voila! lol

If there would be a Warzone kickstarter, I'd sell my house to fund it :D
I am not sure I'd risk my land for Warzone but it'd be surely the first kickstarter project I'd support :)

Well apparently tastes differ ;)
And in the meantime Valpy is throwing the party - you're all invited as long as you bring own beer and Warzone minis :D

Awesome paintjob on Valpurgius! Its nice to see a more muted paintscheme on him rather than the vivid green and purple of the original!

All the best!

Just to make it clear - I didn't paint the model: it was done by Todd Arrington.
It was the very first painting commission I placed because despite several attempts I never managed to paint Valpy myself. Also - it is the very first model I ever purchased :)
