Urban Lycans, The Skapvargr pack of Deptford
« on: June 24, 2012, 11:05:39 PM »
Just finished my Lycoan clan for Empire of the Dead. I wanted to go with a more urban group that looked like it belonged in a city rather than around a campfire.

Most of the figures represent old friends, both two and four legged. At least one of them resides here on the boards.

Shown here are the Lycoan members of the pack. From left to right: Freyda, the pack Beta. Elrik Skapvargr, Alpha of the pack, and Skaflok the pack's Gamma.

The Skapvargr pack originated in Iceland but while travelling to the Mediterranean they were washed ashore at Whitby during a terrible storm that wrecked their sailing vessel. Their reasons for leaving Iceland are unclear but circumstances prevent them from returning or seeking aid from their homeland. The pack had trouble assimilating to life in Whitby due to some conflict with a local foreign nobleman who had taken residence in a nearby abbey. They eventually came to London where they established a residence in Deptford.

The Wolfskins, or Clavigers as they are referred to in London Society. From left to right: Mr Lacey, of Deptford, Max, Hrutcarl, Stonecleaver and Pembroke.

Elrik Skap Vargr - A Secrets of the Third Reich werewolf

Freyda - This is a Horrorclix Dire Wolf that I did a very simple repaint of.

Skaflok - Gamezone Miniatures

All of the Wolfskins are Westwind figures. The metal claws came from the Mantic ghoul set.

Hrutcarl, commander of the Wolfskins

Mr Lacey, the only English born member of the pack. Mr Lacey has residences in Deptford. His arrangement with the pack traded membership for permanent lodgings. In truth, Mr Lacey had always hoped to attached himself to one of the more gracious, Vampire households in town. But needs must. - Lacey's crossbow came off of a Reaper Dwarf.

Stonecleaver

Max, called the Wild

Pembroke, once of Northumberland and Scottish by birth.

I'm looking forward to getting these on the table soon.

Thanks for looking,

Mike

And a nice looking bunch they are.

As well executed as they are thought through.
Back from the dead, almost.

Nice bit of background and a good feel to the minis, good to see some more non-standard miniature factions coming together.

Very nice conversions & repurposing of figures. I might have to steal the trick with the Ghoul claws!

Great stuff Mike!  :-*

Lycaons are giving me the hump at the moment. My Gentleman's Club has been creamed by them in the last four games. Back to the drawing board again.
Don't!

Repeating rifles and swords. Double the chance to get a hit at range and if they win, as they always seem to, in combat at least you get the riposte. That's my take on it. Can't say its worked yet.

I like the style you have going on the human figures, it's quite distinctive.

Lovely use of mantic ghoul blades there, very wolverine.

I'm almost at the point of dipping my toes in with this game, already have a faction planned, the chinese are coming? (hopping vampires, jade mummy, evil mastermind and clansmen, just need to work out what consitutes a faction re: rules/play. Bit difficult without the rules ;)

Again lovely lycans bud.
Now water can flow....or water can crash...be water my friend.
