Takeshi's movie is a remake of original Zatoichi's movie, a total of 26 movies and a TV serie.

Takeshi Kitano, who also came up with... Blood Royale and Takeshi's Castle (amongst others). He is also now an artist (not that good but it was an afternoon spent out).

tried to explain Beat Takeshi to a friend once... best I could come up with is a cross between Bob Monkhouse and Clint Eastwood... oddly I have quite a lot of his films - his recent one where he played himself and his double was pretty weird, even for him...

yep, i know. i didnt know about the remake stuff, thoug.
Kitano is a polyedric but not exceptional artist... not one of my favourite directors but still interesting!
