"Oooh Shiny-Must Have!" syndrome strikes again!!!
« on: March 05, 2008, 07:17:01 PM »
Today at lunch I went down to the FLGS to get some paint as I have a bunch of WWII Brit Paras that have been sitting around since November (thanks to Dom for the lovely tutorial BTW).

As I am checking out, the guy behind the register (he knows what I like) pointed out that they now have Artizan's Thrilling Tales in stock.  Since I had already paid, I thought "It won't hurt to look" and I got out of the store without buying them.

But as soon as I got back to my office, I called the store and had them put two packs on hold.

So.......What color is Bogey's suit in "Casablanca"?  Is it white?  I want to be historically accurate

It looks pretty grey to me. That may have something to do with it being a black and white movie....

But seriously, the movie art that I can find onlince (posters etc) Make it look off white, maybe a bone...

IIRC it's white dinner jacket & black pants (for scenes inside Rick's Cafe Americain).

Has to be white.  No respectable man would have any other color dinner jacket in the 30s. Black or White and its not black

Nononon. I am sure it is a rather fetching light powder blue colour with slightly darker blue lapels.

White.

But I've painted mine black so there is good contrast between the suit and the white shirt.

As a painter I'm more interested in how the figure will look, both to the eye and the camera, than in total accuracy, especially at 28mm.

(No photos yet.  It is in the "awaiting varnishing" queue.)
