There's also a very nice documentary available titled 'Unter kaiserlicher Flagge: Karawane der Matrosen' (first part, a second one is titled 'Hetzjagd vor Kap Hoorn' and deals with a different ship), the English title seems to be 'Hunt the Kaiser's Cruisers'.

The IP-case is just a joke. I'd have gone for historical accurateness anyway.

I know this, it was made for german public Television. Great. I thought about this doing it with Brigade German Asia Korp.

Funny coincidence as the Landungstrupp of the  Emden was on my list to get done as miniatures. Maybe it would have gotten me into an IP-case with this movie coming up.

Wow, this actually looks good. I always thought this epic story would be a great film, just never thought someone would make it.

I would like to hear Your oppinion about it, before or after You have seen it.
I have seen only the trailer and have not Yet decided if I like the style...
I am certainly going to watch it since I want to know how Germans like to portray themselves historically.

So I thought - how about some external input

I read a review of the film in a local newspaper this week and it said it had big names as lead actors, but overall rather mediocre.

Wow, I wasn't fast enough
here in the land of poets and thinkers, the movie was shown in a few cinemas starting with the release date, made the first weekend and then completely disappeared.
Anyway, the marketing concept appears to have involved a twofold operation, with a longer and "uncut"  version to be shown on TV, so lookout for "Die Männer der Emden" in future programmes. I could imagine there will be an english speaking version at least on DVD.
