A buddy at the last gun show i worked at got an old "jungle" in payment for some work he did on a guys 1911.

And silent invader, they both look great. there fire arms are nice, and generic enough to be usable for most locations.

"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Great figures Steve  8)

Crossbows will be the thing in apocalyptic UK I reckon, not too hard to get hold of and loaded with a hunting bolt it's a scary weapon.

I disagree.   Finding the tools to put threads onto a rifle barrel and to make a supressor (because contrary to your belief, they are not common) isn't going to be easy to do, nor will most folks have the skill set needed to do so.

Jake

Jake suppressors can be bought or found very easily where I live, especially for 5.56 rifles. About as hard to find as hunting optics. Lathes are not uncommon, almost any metalshop will have one and often will have an old one for use when the aging 80's CNC one is down or for for limited run work. Learning to use one is not that difficult either and such a skillset will be in EXTREMELY high demand after an apocalypse just as it is in desolate areas. Gas welding cutting, wood fed furnaces would all need to come back. Scavengers must rapidly also learn to become tinkers who can make use of a broken tool a something else, or they will die.

As I said previously, we have people building improvised metal shops that specialize in gun repair and modification and even strange hybridizations RIGHT NOW in desolate areas using old and stolen equipment. People are scavenging and building metal shops out of abandoned junk because there is demand for it where there are no new weapons.

Well, anyone can remove some material from a rod or tube on a lathe, but I don't think using it to cut thread is that easy.
I've had my hands on a lathe at work and while I can turn a simple piece, I don't have a clue how to set it up for threadcutting.
If I'd ever need thread on/in something I'll use a tap and cut it manually.

It makes me laugh, the way some of you fellas talk about firearms.

It seems that you guys find it so easy to access firearms, while we in the UK are not allowed to buy three packs of painkillers at the same time!

Its true, I tell ya!

As a Brit I have no need for a firearm...

...not when I can rely on my trusty jokaero digital weapon.

The sword he sung a song of death,
But could not make the sickle yield."

I'm looking forward to seeing what you are planning on doing with these comparison figures you're scooping up! Given the current TAG special offers, any chance of some sly tips as to what you think might be useful? (I'm guessing some of the African militia packs with rifles and the like, maybe some of the organised criminal gangs)

I was also thinking the Tiger Miniatures 'mounties' (the old HLBS line) in cold/wet gear might have some good scope for conversions, given their mix of weapons and cold weather clothing. It'd only take some back-packs and slight miliput work to make them fit right in!

Cheers for that - I've got lots of those in my African Militia forces, which I sure could stand to suffer a few 'cacualties' if the conversions are easy enough to manage!  ;D

I'll pick up the MP5s, and get one of the chechens to convert into the bargin... I'm also tempted by the British troops in helmets and scarves, but I think they'll look a bit too regular for post apocalypse use (and not nessecarily well enough wrapped up. Whislt the MoFo Falklands figures are well enough wrapped up, but their kit is pretty outdated by 'modern' levels.)

Had you thought about any of the offensive minitures rioters? Some of those are well wrapped up, and all of them are pretty poorly armed. The Red-Star chechens are suitably wrapped up, and some (mainly the command and walking figures) have seperate weapons which could make it easier to modify them for other settings...
