Yay! :D

I have the other 4 with SMGs to paint (normally I'd have painted all eight in one go but I was a bit nervous about the camo).  There are two more presently being sculpted (sniper and flamer) plus I also want to add some LMGs but as I'm faffing about with the rules I keep changing the unit composition. Their ride of choice will be the go (almost) anywhere fleet of Snow Trac plus the heli to lift them in/out.  I have other plans as well but they've not been commissioned (eg, maybe a couple of snow mobiles/riders as fast but noisy despatch riders).

The rules will allow them to be played as good guys and as bad guys - as ever it's all a matter of perspective and place in the pecking order. As their role is to keep the infection at bay they act as a frontier force, keeping the infected and other survivors out of safe zones.  I previously suggested that they are the game's Men of the Wall. In GoT terms - an analogy that makes it easier to explain - as the Nights Watch they operate from a fortified outpost against the infected (the White Walkers) and the potentially infected survivors (the Wildlings).  Another analogy might be from 1960s/70s westerns with Seventh Cavalry, a fort, and Native Americans.

There are all sorts of game options from area cleansing to rescue missions to raids by survivors.

I'm also having some light infantry types made - the Winter Militia* - who can act either with or against the ICE Troopers: balaclavas, chest rugs, AKs, etc. Their ride will be the Unimog.

EDIT: They were surprisingly easy and fast to paint.  I have some mould making to do but hopefully this weekend I'll add the paint scheme to the project website

EDIT2: A little change of tack with regard to their base / I was going to do a fortified industrial unit but inspired by the movie MUTANTS I now fancy a small castle ... Plans have been drawn so more on this soon.  ;)

Great stuff as always Steve.  I've been thinking a bit on the background and narrative for my version and I think my ICE troops will be HQ'd in a bunker facility.  The good thing about the US for this is the amount of cold war and post-9/11 bunkers people and facilities built.

My first snowtrac is en route to me now :D  Looking forward to seeing your kit for it completed!!

Just such a fantastic project you set up, I never lose interest!

They are looking very nice Steve, I can't wait to have a go at painting some  :)
Are the mp5s separate castings? I would like to see some with G36s  or SA80s maybe.

Thanks guys. The MP5s are integral castings though with skill and effort could probably be chopped out and replaced but for most people it'd be way too much work. Depending on how they sell I might do some with greater firepower but no promises at the mo.   ;)

I did wonder what a 'chest rug' was.... I thought it was maybe an English slang thing...

@Erik
A chest rug is a very hairy chest: thinks 1970s and gold medallions (actually, best not!)

@Paul
Faceless authoritarians: yep, that'll do.

Quick question, with more and more vehicles entering the picture, had you thought about adding fuel as a commodity/resource with a corresponding marker?  I'm sure it's not hard for most of us to do and really just need the rules, but I was thinking more on an 'official SSS' side.

My Snow Trac arrived the other day and it's very nice.... Will your tracks fit over the wheels on the model, or will we need to cut those off?  I tried to find where you were talking about this project but I may have missed this point.   I also got 3 1:50 Husky's, one I plan for SSS. :D
