Yep, fuel will be covered in the rules.

The SnowTrac is discussed here:

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=62297.0

The wheels come off and the new track units glue into place.

I have a bit of a hold up as the track edges need to be redesigned as the mould is having issues.  I hope to get some work done on that tomorrow. On the plus side the shamblers are now casting ok as are the additional survivors (running man with bow, etc).

And yes, I also love that veedub  ;)  :D
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

I've just seen a KS about a similar concept with 28mm post apoc game like SSS but to be honest I rather prefer to wait until this one goes on KS. Minis are great, and houses are awesome.

Any plans for a KS campaign?  :D

Does SSS actually need a KS   campaign?  There are a wide variety of figures available ( including multiple factions/forces),  the rules have been released, the scenery has been released... To me that seems like everything most KSs offer,  if not more? Put it another way, a £100 will go a fair way im the miniature mojo store, and it will arrive within a week or so (with the rules pdf available immediately...)

Thanks folks .... An interesting question and answer.  I of course encourage all with available funds to head direct to the store !  :D

Seriously though, I have contemplated crowdfunding at various points but have yet to launch an aspect of the project that I think would overall benefit from it, though one thing I've mentioned previously is a possible printed version of the rules, as it's difficult to forecast demand and colour printing requires quite an upfront spend.

A crowdfunder would introduce a 'contracted ' timetable, which in some respects might conflict with the creative process.  For example, I still have the next release of rules on my desk (core and zombies) because other aspects that I deem more important have hit production problems and turned out to be more time consuming.  A case in point is the Snow Trac conversion kit that will have its fourth attempt at a mould probably later today.  Each remould has required a time-consuming rebuild of the master, which has impacted on the schedule of works.

Also, there's the human element.  Last month I got wiped out by a virus.  If crowd funded against a schedule, that schedule would have been compromised (though with funds in hand I might have been able to contract out what I normally do in house albeit by sacrificing the margin that is presently reinvested in new product).

So, with current pending and planned releases, while a big chunk of upfront money would be nice (obviously!  :D lol), realistically it wouldn't quicken delivery.

The next couple of weeks should see a whole bunch of mini releases: more survivors, the multi-part zombie shamblers (test casts on my desk right now, to be assembled and photographed today), the beginnings of a new Winter Militia force (the sculptor sent me first images of the greens last night but I have yet to sit down at a monitor), more ICE troopers, the Snow Trac kit (fingers crossed!), and other bits and bobs.  Oh, and as those following the workbench thread will know, I am also building a castle for one end of the demo board ..... the component materials and parts are or will be available from the store  ;)

With backlog cleared and creative juices once again flowing at full speed, I will then refocus onto the rules release and other as yet unmentioned developments.

As always, thanks for the interest and support.

Steve

I have to be honest, while I have no idea about how Steve's business is structured internally, he's organized his game so well, and has such regular releases, I'm not sure if he's in need of the hassle of a KS.

Still such a fantastic project even after the 'novelty' was supposed to wane..

I think KS are really only for start up which Steve has already done a great job.

Yes the big companies do it but it all tends to be about mass plastics at dirt cheap prices.

To me it will represent to him a growth in business and marketing campaign.

To me it will represent to him a growth in business and marketing campaign.

The marketing point is a very good one as crowdfunder's do seem to achieve a lot of reach. In this 'industry' marketing is very time consuming for what are mostly one man bands - there are a plethora of forums (as well as Facebook and twitter) to drop news on and KS do kind of achieve a 'sub contract' of some of this to their backers, as backers want the KS to achieve its target so they can get their goodies.  In my case, the goodies are already in store so there's not the same pressing need for buyers to communicate about their anticipated purchases.

Anyways, I'm not saying never to a kickstarter but I don't have one planned at the moment.  A kickstarter might even be for an entirely separate project, as for the business it makes sense to have a portfolio rather than to be dependant on one.  That's another topic for another thread at another time though!  :D

First of quite a few updates that I expect to be making today and over the next few days.

I mentioned before the Winter Militia.  Rugged outdoor folks who comprise a para-military force that can be played either as independents, as a protection force for the survivors, or as scouts for the ICE Troopers.

Only two greens to begin with, mostly to gauge interest.

Whiff Whaff has sculpted these of course, though I'll also be adding a pair of snow shoes that will ship with the minis, either to be fitted to the boots or attached to the rucksack.  (I'm not yet sure how I'll modify the basing tab to allow an easy fitment of the optional snow shoes to the soles of the boots).

Snow suits, rucksacks, chest rigs, AKs and balaclavas (sometimes rolled up).

Maybe the rest of this 'unit' could be kick-started? Thoughts always appreciated. :D

Some ar-15's would be nice as well... :D  How did you manage with those tracks?  I checked ebay, they sell aftermarket rubber tracks, but they're like $6.00 a set....yikes.

Ta very much  :)

Well I'm a tad undecided on weapons.  I was thinking all AKs but a militia perhaps ought really have a limited mix of weapons so there's the prospect of M16/AR15s as well.  As the 'survivor' militia, these guys would have the best of the weapons that are available.

The Snow Tracs have been rebuilt (fourth time I think... hopefully the last) and are next in the moulding queue.  I'd hoped to do them at the weekend but ran out of time  :(  I've had a real problem with casting the tracks (I was too optimistic with the initial thinness) so the moulds were too unreliable for production purposes.  Hopefully I have found a solution but I won't know for certain for a few more days as I have two more moulds to make before the next casting session.

I like them Steve, they have uses way beyond just SSS and I'd love to see more.

As far as weapons go, It's a bit of a dilemma. Ak's and M4's would be great for all kinds of things, but I can't see them being very common in a post apoc UK. In the states, they would be all over the place, mainland Europe as well come to think of it, but here the most common military weapon is going to be SA80 or maybe some FAL's from the stores. You could probably explain having M4's with a bit of fluff about buying guns from the USA before the fall to arm the police and militia unit raised for crowd control or something, but we would be unlikely to buy AK's and the Ammunition that would have to go with them. I don't envy you having to make a decision, maybe open hands and separate weapon sprues?
