*UPDATE* ACW Confederate conversions
« on: December 08, 2012, 12:28:20 AM »
Hi guys,

finally got to work on my first new Confederate infantry unit using the new Perry plastics. First off, they are great! detail is excellent and the poses very lifelike. Unfortunately there are only 5 bodies so I mixed some of the metal running rebs in there as well as some command figures. And to add even more variety, I did a lot of head swaps. You might have seen my conversions in Arkoudaki's thread. The heads are from various other kits: Perry/Victrix plastic French Nap infantry, plastic Zouaves, Wargames Factory WW2 US infantry and Viking sets. I simply cut off the old headgear and replaced them with slouch hats and kepi's.

I really wanted to include a Mexican War style cap as well but sadly, there was not one in the box. Luckily for me, Jinx pointed out that I could use the Victrix Hanovarian heads. I ordered a pack a couple of weeks ago and they work perfectly. Jinx, thanks for the suggestion.

Here are some pictures I took. I hope you can spot the conversions. Please do let me know what you think!!  8)

Methinks the metal and plastic figures appear to mix pretty seamlessly, which is good news.

That is going to look amazing when they're painted! That pile of heads in the background is a little disconcerting, though  lol

thanks guys! yeah all the heads look a bit morbid  lol

More conversions. I made a Guide from parts of the Victrix Grenadier set. And used a head from the Wargames Factory US infantry for the officer. others I took from the Zouave and Nap French sets

I noticed that Perry sell a large set of separate slouch hat heads. Have you purchased these for your conversions?
