Another zombie outing
« on: 28 February 2013, 11:34:33 PM »
Tonight at the FLGS, some friends and I played another zombie game using Akula's rules, which can be found here: http://akulasrules.blogspot.co.uk/ . It was a great success. Here are a few photos from the evening, with comments both from me and from some of the other players.

The Axemurder family at home. Colonel Peregrine, Earl Axemurder, Celia, Lady Axemurder (nee McStabberson), the Dowager Countess Letitia 'Gran' Axemurder, Daisy and Brian 'Aziz' Collins, with the Colonel's beloved jallopy in the drive of Axemurder Hall.

"I say, dear; looks like a spot of zombies."
"Dashed bad show, dear. Aziz; bring Daisy in from the garden."
"I'm sorry, my lady; Daisy seems to have run off."
"Well, dash it all. I suppose we'll just have to hop in the jalopy and go looking for her, what."

The McCletus family, on their ancestral homestead. Left to right: Young Billiam, Paw, Maw (with baby), Drunky, Junior.

Drunky was the only family casualty during the game, although Junior got bit and would eventually zombify. Of Drunky it was said: "He died as he lived. Drunk behind the wheel of a motor vehicle."

Task Force Bravo: Major Fuller, Dr Walsh, Private Alvarez.

The situation at the start of play.

ROW ROW ROW! A zombie dog tries to get friendly with Drunky McCletus. This is a mistake. He knows how to use that shovel.

The hillbillies commandeer superior transport.

Having retrieved Daisy, the Axemurders creep along a back street, out of sight of the zombies.

A tank zombie chases the fleeing Private Alvarez into an abandoned shop.

Our fourth team, the criminal element, successfully loot the freight yard during the chaos and scarper, having lost only one of their number to a zombie bite.

As before, Akula's Rules provided a fun, fast-moving, tense zombie experience. I'm now interested in trying out some of the other variants!

Looks to be a fun game.
Love all the bits pieces you came up with.
Great comments and talk, added laughs for me.
Well done.
May I ask, where did the big stone building come from?
Like it a lot.

The big stone building in the first picture is a 1/72 kit from, I think, Italeri, part of their WWII line. When you get the figures up close to it the discrepancy can be seen: the doors and windows are too small and too low for the models. It was originally acquired when I was working on a 1/72 project. However, on the tabletop in this game, where it was really just there to provide backdrop and cover, I think it worked fine.

I bought that from you, didn't I? Along with a lot of the terrain and several of the bystanders.

The axe lady has been sitting on my desk for years awaiting some paint - you've inspired me to set to! Very nice work indeed!  :o
