Am reading The Hobbit at the moment and found this part that absolutely demonstrates the existence of fallen Dwarves.

"They (goblins) did not hate dwarves especially, no more than they hated everybody and everything, and particularly the orderly and prosperous; in some parts wicked dwarves had made alliances with them." (The Hobbit, page 59 in the chapter called 'Over Hill and Under Hill')

So there you go...wicked dwarves, fallen dwarves, call 'em what you will! :)

Great models by the way! Excellent paint job!

I don't buy it and I am going to go anorak on your ass here... There are plenty of stories in the cannon, telling about dwarves behaving wickedly, but not one is talking about dwarves being servants of evil. The opposite is quite clearly stated, they are as a race very resilient to domination.

Nice work Giger :) Inspiration for my project with A.N.Other member of the forum(Paul ;))

Erm,have to agree with Hammers though on the whole bad dwarf thing, empirical evidence (ie that which is written about in the canon) would suggest that it was an very rare event,if at all...

I'm going to back Joe on this detail...

"All living things were divided in that day, and some of every kind, even of beasts and birds, were found in either host, save the Elves only. They alone were undivided and followed Gil-galad. Of the Dwarves few fought on either side; but the kindred of Durin of Moria fought against Sauron."

Anorak away to your hearts content :) I was being fairly anorakish myself to remember this thread when I was reading The Hobbit.

Anyway, it didn't say that they were being dominated, or that they served evil per se, just that they made alliances with gobbos. I admit it seems a bit odd, but there you go.

'Thumps his knee'.

On that basis (page 294 of my copy) one could have an regiment of 'Black Hobbits'.
Anyway I rather like Giger's take on the subject :-*  Even if I won't be using such an idea in my own LOTR project.

As I have said, so do I.

Here's some quick WIP shots of the crossbows, I was hoping to get these finished however I got a little distracted this weekend:

I should have these finished by Wednesday and started on the next (and for now last) unit to do.

Giger,

They should be paying you for advertising those dwarves. I would have never thought to purchase any, but after seeing your paint jobs and the comparison to LOTR figs, I really want some!

Some lovely miniatures in this collection.

I do rather like your interpretation, even though I will be heading off on a different route soon.

Nice work, Giger!

I am starting to be swayed by the figures too.
Just not for LotR.

Again thanks guys for the comments

I'm just happy to spread the word, they really are some lovely miniatures.

I'm almost done now with this unit, just some flocking tonight, and then on to the second crossbow unit which is also the last last unit for the army for now.  There are some new releases due in the next couple of months which I'll most certainly be getting as they're looking great.
