Oooh yes, I can vouch for the quality and I'm a fussy b**tard when it comes to Victorian buildings.

These mdf bits are getting better but are not exactly cheap for what they are and are no comparison to "real" resin or scratchbuilds.  I feel the biggest downfall is them being designed to the limitations of the medium and they suffer from being panels of 2D.

If time is took to "design" a proper build, like Geronimo at Fenris has done with the Arkham House or James with his Oshiro victorian buildings, they are superb but these mdf offerings are not proper kits on that level at all.

None of the MDF building kits do it for me especially the prepainted ones. Too perfect for my tastes. I prefer scratch builds. But I can see a ready market for them though.

I have bought some of the MDF buildings in the past with a view to sticking styrene brickwork sheets on them. A sort of gap filler while putting builds together. It worked out rather expensive though.....

The Sarissa ones could be improved with a bit of layering. If those windows were a seperate cut for example that slotted into a recess so it gave a slight variation. It'd allow the eye to accept depth.

I have hopes for the 4ground ones based on the test pieces I've been given. Should find out next week

Yes, cutting some parts with different thickness to layer on or slot in is what is lacking from most kits to get away from the 3D nature.

My personal interest would be to get them as a base to build on, as for some reason I really suck at building a solid basic box structure (really!) or cutting straight windows/doors, sides,... But as Thunderchicken said, they are a bit too expensive for that.

Still, I might get one of these to experiment with and see if it's worth the trouble required to make it more 3D. And Jimbibbly's are definitely on the to buy list. I also got the Griffin house from Fenris Games, which looks terrific, though the number of components in the kit is very intimidating.
