Good looking start with the Russian Jägers Michael. Quite good amount for skirmish action. Will you have as many Finns and Swedes?

Thanks !!!

My first goal are to have 16 Russian jaegers and about 20ish Swedish/Finnish to get started with tea gaming. I also have 20-30 Russian Line infantry minis and some Officers to reinforce the Jaegers.

For the Swedes I will continue to build ordinary infantry.

My second goal are to be able to set up soem good size Sharp Practise games, suppouse I´ll need 50ish minis one each side for that.

I brobably also cavalry, a few artillery and campfollower/civillians to to both sides, we will see how long the inspiration last;)

best regards Michael

Very nice looking Jägers Michael, bases need some snow though ;) That spring was extremely cold (temperatures of under -30C in March) and snowy, in some of the battles/skirmished Russian Dragoons advanced as slow as men walking due to heavy snow + snowstorm.

Can't wait to see what you got in store for us both miniature and terrain wise.

Yes I have been thinking of the snow... but decided to base the minis in summer bases even if some of the acctual gaming will be set on winter/spring terrain. The minis might also need some better clothes to withstand -30C ...

Wonderful collection of articles about the Finnish War from Helsingin Sanomat, the leading newspaper of Finland. The stories are unfortunately in Finnish but those of you interested in them might get something out of them with google translate still.

http://www.hs.fi/juttusarja/suomensota

The articles include stories about Finnish veterans who became beggars in Stockholm in 1810, two of them named (Örn and Spets, both typical military surnames that Finnish soldiers were given when they were enrolled... both of these chaps from Savolax), about the panic in Stockholm caused by sightings of Russians crossing the frozen sea, about Swedish kings order to let officers not having to wear a wig in Tornio etc...

Enjoy ;)
