Urban Mammoth - Concept Preview: The Viridian “sabre” Clau

Man this looks sweet.

You can see it on Urban Mammoths main site.

Urban Mammoths Web Page

Basically this is a Shock Marine on steriods.

I looked at the picture more closely and what is weird is the fact that the legs seem a little short.  Originally I thought the picture was showing most of the model with a portion of the legs cut off.  It appears though that the legs are short compared to the upper body.  The other thing that is a little weird is the hands look like they only have 4 fingers.  Hmmm.  I hope the sculpt turns out the be more proportional.  I am quite certain that I will pick this figure up for some type of pulp german science experiment gone wrong.

"Ach! Die Tommies haben meine Pläne gestohlen! Mein Robot soll sie zermalmen... wenn er erst mal funktioniert!"

or, in "english pulp German":

"Teufel! Thoze goddamned Tommiez haff ztolen my zekrett planz! I vill destrrroy zhem... onze my rrrobot iz worrrking!"

:D

Say, how about an in-forum project for a "pulp-german-english" phrase book, collecting all those great things that have cropped up lately and writing up some more for use as a "funny caption-builder" resource. ;)

That would be awesome. You could take a single phrase ("My God, they've stolen the plans!") and translate it into all sorts of dialects.

Pulp British: Wot wot? They've nicked the plans, the rotters!

Pulp Southern US: Saaaay, them fellers done runned off with the plans!

"God-Damned Yankees" is a very specific subset of "Them Fellers." So if the Zeppelin Truppen crash through the window, steal the plans, and then escape on zip lines, Private Hiram Hickam from Possum Holler, Alabama will say: "Them fellers done runned off with the plans!"

If the plans were stolen by upper-class Cthulhuian cultists, it's entirely possible Private Hickam will say: "Them God-Damned Yankees done runned off with the plans!"

It is likely that Private Hickam has a higher opinion of the Zeppelin troops than he does of anyone from New England.

I lived in Tennessee. I have heard men say "God Damned Yankee" and not jokingly.

To quote Billy Wilder´s "One-two-three":

"Why? It´s just ´Yankee go home´!" ´Ami go home´ would have been insulting, but ´Yankee go home´?"

Scarlet Hazeltine on GDR propaganda balloons.

Goes to show you can´t be too specific with your prejudices. :D
