Hi all!!
A week after Salute my head is swimming with ideas for WAY to many things!!

First up, my brother and myself picked our copy of the 7th Voyage rules at the show and I'm itching to try them out!!

Along with the love-er-ly Salute figure we got in the goody bags, I also got a sprue of Victorex Athenian Hopilites to act as my cast for the game. I'll get some pics of them later when I get some better light.
But enough of the padding, what I REALLY need is a board to play on. It's the main thing we've been missing from our games recently is terrain specifically for 7tv stuff. After seeing the Crooked teams board, I decided to build me own.
What I did find in my hunt for inspiration is this great site...
http://livlily.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/sinbad-legend-of-seven-seas-2003_04.html?m=1This link leads to the main thing I was looking for, designs for the animated version of Sinbad.
If you look at these, and similar, drawings the artists have worked out some great settings. Sometimes they are a bit over the top, but the inspirational stuff is diffinatetly there!! For the 7th Voyage stuff, I figure Aladdin, Sinbad, El Dorado amongst others are a good place to start. I specifically liked these two drawings...

I liked the idea of steps down to the water and plinths either side and also in the second drawing there's a picture of stairs with a lions head on the front. I decided to run with the lion theme with my board, using the lion castings from my Nelsons Column model and make some more to go about. Here's my ideas for the board...

First up I got a bit of MDF from B&Q and a board of polystyrene from Antenocities workshop(600x600x50mm). The lions head on the plinth is Greenstuff and the plinth itself us foamboard and embossed plastic card brickwork. The stairs are built with stepped foamboard and covered in blue foam made to look like stone....

The lions head is going to be, somehow, copied so its not glued in yet. Here's some so the scatter terrain that will be placed on top, hopefully made to look sand covered when painted...

The board has now also been cut and textured to look like stone...

Now I just need to try and get this finished within a week, for our gaming night!! No pressure!!
