If I could find an emoticon for being ironic I might be tempted to put:
Commercially though, the British 1917 Mark IV is easy to recognise, and may be the basis for GW designs, and they sell a lot of them....
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Perhaps.
But if you take the background fluff that has the British now with nuclear power, then logically why mess about with tanks & armoured cars at all? Why not just nuke the Martian bases  where the cylinders are?
Win the war with one quick decisive strike.

Thought AD states there are no nuclear bombs

Also they are fighting in the USA and they may not want their country nuked. If you could use nukes it would make a fairly boring game.

But that was my point. If you've acquired nuclear power in 1904 why fuss around inventing tanks? Especially since the first ones only came as a perceived means of breaking the trench stalemate on the Western Front.
More advanced artillery, better sights, quick-loading, rapid traverse, longer range, possibly gun shields (but probably in the form of asbestos fascines or gabions), I could see as a natural progression from the book where the only thing that takes out a tripod is artillery (discounting Thunderchild ramming one - going to ancient Greek naval tactics is not progress).
Possibly more advanced communications would be a likely development (a bit boring for the tabletop, but better telephones, portable radio sets etc would be a logical progression) Maybe even a computer. There's a lot of new data to be analysed after the Martian landings of 1899.
Also gas masks/NBC style suits. Historically, anti-gas hoods were developed (by the Canadians?) soon after the first gas attacks in 1915.

I disagree I think you are getting too bogged down in actual history rather than looking at it as a scifi game but thats up to you. ;)

Hope they hit the £250k to be able to make things plastic. I have moved to the BEF Assault pledge and I hope they will offer the add-ons after it has finished as won't be able to afford them to July.

Silly question. When you "pledge" the money for Kickstarter, do you give them the money then or does it happen when you get the form?

I.E. if I pledge $240 right now, do they get the money from me right then or is it "I'll give you $240 down the road."?

They take the money when the kickstarter ends, which i think is Sunday

24 hours to get to 250K....

My pledge ended up being Full Assault with the Martian Overseer.

About 17K to go. Hope they make it.

Soooo....

The broke 250K and that means plastic tripods and a snot load of miniatures for me.  :)

I think a good result for AD.

Not so keen on the BEF, myself, so we'll have to see where they go from here. I'm hoping Prussia...
