That is really nice Section 8 and I see from your blog it is all scratch built. This bit is a good tip if you don't mind me repeating it here?

"It used to be that I cut each shingle out by hand using a pair of scissors or a hobby knife. Then one fortuitous day I was shedding some old bills when I noticed that the width that it cut was about the same width of the shingles I had been cutting. So I put some card stock through the shredder and it came out fine. I then cut a dozen or so of the 1/4" strips at a time, easily making enough shingles to do the entire roof in a few minutes. Still, you have to glue them on one at a time, but I think the haphazard nature adds to the character of the building."

Time very well spent with the final look.

Thanks for pointing out the blog - I got distracted by the pictures. I can't believe it's all scratch built (I thought it was half and half!). Well done (again).

Thanks for the kind comments. Yes, it is scratch built. Made from insulation foam, card board and card stock. I really like the insulation foam over other materials because of the texture you can give the models. Though I occasionally use other materials or whatever I have on hand.

Don't mind at all if you re-post my comment. The shredder has saved me tons of time. Probably cut the time I spend working on buildings in half. I have never liked the plasticard shingle sheets that you can buy, but I have tried them. I stuck with the card stock shingles even though it took my as long to do just the roof, as it did the rest of the building. You can also use the strips of card stock strips for wood floors, ships etc.

I am working on tutorial on how to build a half timbered house, out of foam. Right now all of my models are static models, and I would like to eventually build some with removable roofs and interiors but I don't think the insulation foam is not the greatest for this, but I may try it anyway.

My blog is supposed to be mainly about miniature buildings and terrain, but I have been a little side tracked as of late putting together and putting together and painting several armies for Bolt Action. Something which I am not that great at, but enjoy doing none the less.

Great stuff in your blog 

That courtyard is versatile piece, great idea and execution there. And the buildings you have done sure look to work like treat. Hopefully you will post more of your progress here as at least I am personally very bad at following blogs :/

No problem, will keep posting them here. Just had a bit of a hectic couple of days and things got a away from me bit. The first half of the half-timbered house tutorial is done and I hope to have the rest done by next week.

I am glad you like the courtyard thingy. I've been told by several people that it reminds them of a parking lot, apparently somewhere in Anaheim.
