It looks great. I was just thinking the other day that it'd be a while since I seen or heard anything from you guys. As always great to see your stuff in action.

Thanks all! It's great to be posting again.  :-*

dijit- I must have heard you thinking. We've been busy painting and modelling and playing, and taking pictures of it all. I actually have 8 adventures from 3 different groups to post on the website! I have 4 from the Sagas of the Gautrian Kings, 1 from a group of our daughter and her 14 year-old friends, and the first 3 adventures of the newly launched on-going tale the League of Nil-ith Horn Chronicles.  In addition, the website needs a bit of tightening up, and completely new sections on the factions so our newer players can use the site to understand the bigger political picture. Wow! I'd better get to work!  ;)

aggro- We do have a blast. Folks can't keep away, and we have players asking how other peoples' adventures went and what the outcomes would be on their stories. My husband's cousin Bleddyn is now all-in with his side to our hobby- plastic casting. He's done lots of things we've used so far, especially my personal favorite, a huge campfire that Teshub carved. There are some other nifty gifts from him, including our Christmas present of 5 professionally printed maps of our world!

DeafNala- Thanks for the photography compliments. I've used Canon Powershots (G2, then the SX20is) for the last 11 years. They are a great compromise between photo quality, creative control (awesome macro abilities on both) and price. But I am now getting ready to take the BIG CAMERA PLUNGE and get a DSLR camera. I've spent the last month or so pretending I'm shooting with a fixed lens in the focal lengths I'm researching and looking in on photography groups. I am a science geek at heart, so I've been eating up all the charts and ratios and numbers, and learning that what I want to do is challenging.

This new camera idea came about as we once again organized the storage room and hurt ourselves moving comic boxes. I pulled off the index cards and thought, "What else do I have in here?" Turns out my OCD was good for something and I am evil-baying my 1990's comic and graphic novel collection to fund my camera body purchase. It started last February when I sold my Hellblazers for an order to Mirliton.   :) Then when Foundry had those great deals I sold my Star Frontiers stuff to fill out our vikings.  :D Recently, I saw a great price on a macro lens and decided I don't need every comic I ever had Neil Gaiman sign.  lol I like the thought of clearing out space and funding our hobby at the same time.

Much more to come, we've an urog hall in the works as I type. Typing is what's keeping my hands out of its plaster, as a matter of fact.

The map is COOL! AND the new Hall has a potentially WONDERFUL look to it. Have FUN with the plaster (if you haven't tried it yet, Woodland Scenics Foam Putty works GREAT) & paint!

While it's a shame you'll be selling off your comics collection, you'll be passing along all the pleasure they gave you to other Folks...the camera is a reward for being SUCH A GOOD person.

Don't feel too badly for me; I'm keeping the most inspirational gems of my lot. I fit all the stories I wanted to keep into 2 boxes which I'll be able to get to and actually read again. I'm not selling any books that I consistently get enjoyment out of. That's what I bought them for to begin with.  :)

Like you said, it's about passing on these stories to folks that will read them (or maybe they'll keep them in a box for another 20 years, but that's their call). I was going to donate some of the graphic novels to my library system, but the "Sin City"s are always getting stolen. I suspect offended parents more than hard-up teens since there are still lots of Batman on the shelves.  ???

My tastes have changed a bit too. Most of my collection I would describe as "gritty", if I couldn't use the word mature. Even if one is not familiar with the titles, they say it for themselves: "Stray Bullets" "Murder Me Dead" "Preacher". OK, I guess "Preacher" might sound innocuous enough, and I was going to keep those because I loved Garth Ennis' writing, until I tried to read it again and the blood and guts turned me off.  :-X
*sigh* I'm starting to sound like somebody's mother...

So thank you for the uplifting comments, and you all will be the first to know when the new camera is acquired and debuts. As my husband keeps reminding me, this is a patient man's hobby, including the ebaying for hobby money, so there will be plenty of pictures in the near future with my current gear!  :o

I would be willing to wager that the comments from your daughter's friends are: "Your Mom is SOOOO COOL!".

I'll look forward to the WONDROUS photos you & the new camera produce.

Thanks again for the kind words all! The Sagas of the Gautrian Kings continues with episode #43 "Fit For a King".

After Kvig Melgarson announced himself King to the bonders of Timlin, King Magnus declared him outlaw and Kvig's eldest brother Hegg took Kvig into custody. Bleddyn and Wynston botched a rescue attempt which left Bleddyn in the dungeon as well. Our adventure this evening began with Wynston as the only free character.

She ran to the tent of Kvig's loyal priest and warned him of the trouble. Then she climbed the tower wall to free her companions. She found two soldiers atop the dungeon entrance. Relying on her speed and strength, she bull-rushed the closest guard and knocked him off the wall. He fell with a thud by the barred window of the cell Kvig and Bleddyn were in.

Eyes wide, the second soldier backed away as Wynston threw open the hatch. Kvig and Bleddyn emerged and more guards responded to the fighting.

Wynston took to the catwalk and fixed a rope down. The keep was in a clamor at the escape.

The three heroes climbed down and sprinted toward the camp. Hegg’s knights came close behind to threaten Kvig’s troops. It would be a bloody battle to win free with Kvig’s retinue. There was no choice but for Kvig, Bleddyn, and Wynston to take to the night and sneak away.

It was an all-action, almost all-Wynston show, and another fun night of RPGing!

HOORAY, WYNSTON! Yet another cool report!

Sorry about the morning. The whole problem with mornings is they start too early in the day.

Sorry about the morning. The whole problem with mornings is they start too early in the day.

I'll second that! This past Saturday Night we did some Fantasy Warriors wargaming. After the guys left I stayed up late and uploaded about half the pictures I intended to use while I watched the SuperBowl the next day. When I got up Sunday morning, I couldn't get any more photos to upload correctly. I didn't "fix" the problem until late Sunday night, and blame the entire event on the fact that I tried to start before 10am on a weekend.  ;D

Here is a LAF-exclusive behind-the-scene shot from Saturday where you can see my shiny new Christmas present- a really cool Vanguard Alta Pro tripod! The center column can come all the way out and there is an articulated mechanism to angle it. Combined with the ball-head I can get pretty much any picture I want. The only tricky part is that my camera plus flash gets heavy and I have to remember to position the legs right to avoid the whole thing tipping over when I've got it fully extended over the table top. The pic was taken with my powershot G2 on my old tripod.

And here is an action shot to hold you over 'til the full post:

Teshub and the family and I had a lovely day Wednesday. While the schools were closed and the snow piled up, we played Fantasy Warriors! We wanted to play-test some special abilities we've been researching/developing to bring mass combat wargaming in line with the Conan D20 rules for RPGing, so we took to the table. We replayed the battle from Saturday night, with Teshub fighting as the League of Nil-ith horn (mostly) orc forces and myself as the Free Jarls of Gautria.

We each picked 2 special abilities (from a list of about 15 that Teshub will type up for me later). Teshub assigned “Last man standing” to his warlord, making the warlord the last figure removed in a unit, and “Bloodlust” which allowed him to put a unit into bloodlust. I chose “Diehard” for my leader, adding a +2 to his save, and  applied “Legendary Unit” to my berserkers which added +1 attack die for every 3 figures in the unit.

The League of Nil-ith Horn warlord arrayed his 3 units of heavy infantry in the open, with a unit of medium armored Vangen orc mercenaries on his left, and 4 orc heroes to his right.

The Gautrian Jarl attempted to use the terrain to the advantage of his more mobile light ulfhednar and berserk units on his flanks, while his 2 slower infantry units kept to the center. The men of Gautria were bolstered by 2 enormous sword thane heroes and one giant champion.

Both leaders looked to stir their troops to victory.

As the League forces began their steady march toward the Gautrian lines, the LNH Warlord drew his 2 Orc spear units together to fight in 2 ranks. The Gautrian Jarl moved his spearmen into like formation.

The ulfhednar spread out on his right, and the berserks with their giant hero snuck through the trees on his left.

When they emerged from the woods, they saw the opposing phalanxes about to clash.

The spear units closed for attack and the bloodshed began.

The heavy armor and mighty heroes at the center of the battle proved the difference for the LNH as the Gautrians crumbled.

Unable to get his berserks into attack orders, the Jarl took his remaining heroes and plunged into the fray.  Seeing the fierce human berserks confused and holding their ground, the LNH Warlord refused battle there. The Ulfhednar moved in to strike so the Vangen mercenaries were thrown into Bloodlust by their unit leader.

Enraged, the orcs savage the Ulfhednar and annihilate the men in a single round.  Now blood drunk, the crazed orcs slammed into the Gautrians finest unit, the Berserks!

On both sides there was great carnage and loss of life as the two units annihilated each other in the flash of two handed weapons.

Alone and outnumbered the Gautrian had no choice but to surrender to the League of Nil-ith Horn.

Great battle report and I like the table set-up. The new tripod looks like it can offer all sorts of great angles for your photos. It looks so hi-tec, are you sure it isn't part of an invasion force from Mars?  ;)
