Terrain Help Needed
« on: May 24, 2013, 01:56:57 PM »
OK, I am in the middle of a project and need some help with terrain.  I am looking to make/buy some specific terrain items for scenarios in the Donets Basin of the Ukraine.  Specifically something like this:

If you have an opinion, suggestion or idea, please visit my blog and let me know here or there.

Thanks,

I think that this is actually pretty common terrain for railway modellers - they're always making marshalling yards and quarries and whatnot, even if usually wargamers aren't (40k GrimDark players with a penchant for the industrial aside). The Granite Rock Facility on your blog (looks like an ideal location for supervillain hi-jinks to me!) certainly looks like the kind of thing that would give railway modellers no problems.

On your photo of the Donets Basin, those streets in the foreground look suspiciously regular. Perhaps having some flat grey base, with 'blocks' of long single-storey houses would work - maybe eight to a block, arranged like this:

and that could be one block. I see from the blog that you're working at either 15mm or 6mm; at 6 mm, a house like that is only about 40mm x 20 mm x 18mm, I'd think.
