Figure recommendations please.
« on: 24 July 2013, 02:24:11 PM »
Hi Guys,

I need some figure help, please.

I'm building an 28mm Egyptian army from the 1880s to fight my British, Mahdists, Abyssinians or anyone else who turns up! (I'm thinking Italians next).
I've mainly used Perry Miniatures figures but also Old Glory and a few bits from smaller manufacturers.

I game the period using Black Powder rules and I have decided a 'standard' sized unit is 20-24 figures with a mounted officer.

A couple of example regular battalions  - poor photos but they give the idea.

I have also created an irregular battalion for this Brigade (using the Perry Miniatures Bazinger packs) and I need a mounted officer for this unit:

I don't want to use another of the Perry mounted officers, but want something a little more, well "irregular" looking - can anybody recommend anything suitable?

I don't mind if I need to headswap as I'm happy doing that.

Thanks for your help and by way of completeness - here's the Artillery from this Brigade:

Tim.

An Arab from the Crusades range?
A figure from the "Napoleon in Egypt" range from Brigade Games?

On the other hand, very nice figures.

Have you looked at Essex Miniatures or Castaway Arts?

Could I humbly suggest that there might be something suitable in the Empress Miniatures Zulu War range?  :)

A British officer is no good if he wants, as he says he does, to use them against the British.

If you want a wilder, irregular look, what about one of the Perry mounted Bashi-Bazouk command?

My suggestion as well. They are great looking miniatures and irregular looking.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys.
I'll have a look at them all before I decide.

Eventually I'll post some better photos of my figures!

Oh and just to let you know, I do all ready have British "Colonels" for my Egyptian battalions, so that I can also use them as an Anglo-Egyptian army to fight the Mahdi.  :)
