I think Strand refers to their overall 'stocky/cuddly' appearance (the sculpts more than your painting), with big eyes.

I think, as long as you do not mix in some very different sculpts, they do the trick - that's simply the way they look in this universe  ;)

The Porters are from Pulp Figures.

The donkeys/explorer are from Foundry Darkest African (the one right after cowboys) range.   The can be a bit difficult to find.  They are in the Crossing the Dark Heart Collection.

And I'm tired... painting all day.

Still need lots of terrain, especially for a jungle... so I painted up some Pegasus Palm Trees:

Pretty big aren't they?

I have nine others with a different palm frond I'm also working on.  So many projects... so little time.

Those palm trees are great - I have some of those based and prepped, but haven't gotten around to paint them, yet...

Very nicely done Ray. Like the brown tips on the leaves. Great observation.

Thanks mates!

The strange thing about the Pegasus trees are that the fronds, when placed are flat..ish.

I believe the tree should be much more round with the fronds cascading from above.  I tried the best I could do with the plastic, but it was impossible to make them stick upwards.

The kit also comes with 5 levels of fronds.  It all got to "bunchy" to me, especially since they were either pointing level or downwards.  I thus eliminated one of the levels and bent the heck out of the top two levels to try to give me some upwards fullness.

Anyway, they are very kewl trees and didn't take all that much time to fix up.  So, a good addition to my budding jungle.

Have you tried 'hot water conversion'? Put the plastic in very hot water for a while, then bend the parts as you like. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, depending on the plastic.
