The Albion 13th Imperial Guard (new replacement thread)
« on: August 06, 2013, 02:23:48 PM »
The Albion system is within the Segmentum Solar, as a result, it was one of many systems liberated in the early days of the Great Crusade. However the system only has two planetary bodies, both of them gas giants, orbiting a single sun. The rest of the system is filled with vast asteroid fields, it is believed these asteroids are all that's left of worlds destroyed eons ago.

Due to the sheer number of asteroids, the system is rich in numerous ores and gases, Promethian, Iron and Gold are just a few of the materials harvested, as such vast hive cities have developed on a number of the larger rocks, while smaller outposts are constructed every few decades as new veins are discovered and mined.

Due to the close proximity to Holy Terra and the richness of the system, Albion boasts better defenses than most Imperial systems, the Imperial Navy has a orbital shipyard and defense fleet of 20 ships in the system. The Adeptus Mechanicus keeps a regiment of Skitarii present in return for vast quantity's of Promethian fuel. Finally the Adepta Sororitas maintain a convent on Albion Primus, helping to maintain the faith.

One of the most famous regiments raised from Albion is the 13th, due to the various cultures that arise on the asteroids, the Guard regiments of Albion contain a bizarre mix of armor and weapon types, over the years of campaigning these styles are soon phased out into a more common model, not so the 13th which allows its squads to retain thier uniqueness, something that causes the Commissars some headaches.

With such close ties to both the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Adepta Sororitas, the 13th has a large number of advanced Plasma weapons and an abundance of flame based weapons, though due to the nature of their home system, they have a lack of mechanized armor, something they make up with a large amount of infantry and missile launchers.

Those are beauties.  I'd be interested in closer pics of the armored assets.

Great army! I love the back story. How do they do without a lot of armor?

Swamp the enemy with massed fire power and bayonet charges.

However since those photos were taken I have added an Executioner, Hellhound and Manticore to the armored division.

Funny you should say that, when I took these pictures it was I think 3 weeks before GW released its "formations" for Apocalypse. Ive been working on this troops since 2008, and have yet to play a game with them, I really just enjoy painting them.

Fair enough. I haven't played 40k in ages either. Painting is probably the funnest part anyway!

lovely paint jobs - not a fan of the figures themselves, but its always great to see an army lined up, and the accompanying fluff is great.

Spent a good few hour organizing my army today, the full might of the Albion 13th and their allies, the Sister's of the Order of the Bloody Blade.

The company command squad.

Imperial Priests, Techpriests, and platoon command squads.

More techpriests and imperial preachers.

Various Battle Sister squads and transports.

1st platoon and all their transports.

1st and 2nd platoon's.

3rd and 4th platoon's.

5th platoon, stormtroopers, ratlings and psykers.

Conscript's and Heavy weapons.

Armor elements.

Parade ground, desert, winter and scout dress, plus veterans in carapace armor.

Psykers.

Phew...

Great stuff! It seems like you have managed to squeeze in one of every Guard model produced since 2nd edition 40K  :)
