Somebody will buy them. They always do.

Sure there will be some kid with money to blow that isn't theirs or run up a credit card they don't care about how much they are paying back in the long run...oh you bought it online at a discount? Congrats, you still end up paying more if you take the interest hits....

GW is going to continue to gouge until they really start to slide...then they will try to save the game, by then the ship will have taken too much water.....I give the game maybe about 10 years at best....then we will be carving a tombstone.

May I suggest em4miniatures' space rangers?

Similar, but five minis for £2.55. Which will likely be 10-12 times cheaper than the GW crap.

Give them good enough rules and people will flood the tables with them. Easy when you think about it.

Back in the 80's when I was in High School, I dreamed of owning all those cool minis. Alas I had no such money to do so. Now I'm 43 and still can't afford their damn figures, even if I wanted to! I don't know if they will ever disappear, but they certainly leave me cold with their business practices. They pretty much destroyed the older mini companies with their scale creep and very effective propaganda, but I doubt they will ever kill historical miniature wargaming.

Some more pictures and another badly thought out tank variant here. There are blue versions of the marines, which are just as difficult to see any detail on as the yellow ones  :-[

For those with WAMP accounts, there's also a blurry picture of what someone described as a transformer here.

Apparently the new marines are Centurion Marines (whatever that means). No idea what the weapons are meant to be, but I see where Scurv got the mining idea from.

Baggy informs me they're a type of gravity weapon allegedly.   :?

imperial mining marines?

Nah, those are obviously light technician marines.
Those disco balls at the end of their arms cast colorful beams of light in the Imperial dance hall while the noise marines play their tune.  :P

I thought they had hit rock bottom with that 40K scale Lord of Battles. I was so naive... Apparently they have diversified into manufacturing the contents of Kinder Eggs.

As others have said, they know their market. They know that marketing stuff to kids who nag their parents to buy stuff is the best way to bring in the $$.

It seems to me that GW now is the logical conclusion of a corporate strategy which begun already when they were in their creative heyday.  It is just more apparent now because they are more systematically implementing it.

btw are you sure they are official GW products? Cant see them on their website. Latest releases all seem to be gigantic dinoriders.

A cross between Bumblebee (Transfomers) and Voltron? Maybe they're after the Japan mecha fans?

Leaked pics of the new WD as GW doesn't show pictures of new releases until a week before they go up for sale. Or someone grabs blurry phone camera shot.
