So apparently, GW is releasing a new army/range for fantasy. With people seemingly certain that we're finally getting a Cathaian army.

I wonder what a completely modern range of models for Rank and flank game looks like coming from GW.

The Beastmen disappeared from the webstore last year, just as I went to buy some, so I'll be getting a box or two to round out my force.

l was never crazy on the Elves, but I may pick up some if they scale with the oathmark ones

I suppose I had better start saving  :(

Watched an interesting video today from Jordan Sorcery, interviewing the former head of GWs plastics John Thornthwaite...

And I spotted this cool little article from Graeme Davis on Hammer the Hammer / Sigmar...

https://graemedavis.wordpress.com/2025/01/15/when-harry-met-sigmar/

Both of these really show how GW has changed over the years, John in particular had a rough time of it at the end, such a shame.

Couple of legends, there. Unfortunate to see them caught up in what GW has become - another big corp. GW somehow remains insanely popular - I am almost ready to cave on some 40k just to game with some people I’ve met who I had no idea played.

I know the siren call of having folks to regularly game with, but just say NO! Convert them and bring them into the fold of smaller press rules and figure agnostic games. They’ll thank you later!  ;)

Yeah, as cool as that would be, I think I need to play their game first, and through that common ground work toward other games. I have other games to let them try

Subvert them step by step; a heresy cannot be forced after all; the people must want it first...

I suggest using a rules set like Grimdark Future by OnePageRules. It's designed to be an unbloated 40K, but then it's also completely miniature agnostic. They'll recognise their familiarity with the core rules almost immediately, and you play a few games. You comment on how easy and fun these rules are. Then you field something completely and utterly non-GW, using the same ruleset and you'll be halfway there already :D
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

I've met all of my recent gaming group through 40K...and other GW games.  Now we no longer play any of them.  There are a lot of people in the "GW" community who are more or less stuck there.  A handful of them will jump at the chance to play another game - even one unrelated.

I started attending a 40K club just before 8th edition (which I tried for a year and a half or so).  Of the 40-50 people who came in and out of the club, I now game with maybe seven of them that I met, and we game a lot and play all kinds of games.

It's a simple numebrs game. There are, also, plenty of those guys who are still playing tournament 40K and have been for the past 8-10 years since I met them...so they love their thing.

Anyone else pre-order Eldar today? I picked up some odds and ends (largely because stock is non-existent…).

The new exarch for the Fire Dragons seems to be unavailable oddly - not even sold out, just not available.

GW being GW I guess.

Had a buddy order three boxes of fire dragons and Fuegan...only to get updated by the retailer that he was getting two boxes of fire dragons instead, etc.

So yeah, typical GW logistics.

Hmmm. Yeah, got the Fire Dragons - no Fuegan. Seems out everywhere, no reason. Dumb! Also, for an exciting new army release, so many core things are just out of stock. GW shooting themselves in the face - solid.

EDIT: randomly, Fuegan showed as available now from my favourite online retailer. Ordered.

EDIT 2: GW oddly got restocked … also trapped 20 Storm Guardians, an Avatar of Khaine, and the 2-pack of the War Walkers. Oh and a Visarch.

I don’t understand GW’s stock system at all.

Still needing basic stuff like Dire Avengers.
