Are they robots or dreadnoughts?

By the sounds of it they are power armour suits similar to the Thunderkyn

I watched the Eons of Battle round up and they said they were robots.

I quite like the new chaos dwarfs. The Bull Centaurs are my favourite.

Well I am beyond words over these new Chaos Dwarves, and not in a good way :? lol

Why does all new GW, 3D designed stuff have to be so busy? >:( :-[

Yeah, they are really ugly. Too many straight hard edges, and yes just busy.

Bull Centaurs and the new mechanical flying monster. Really nice takes on the original concepts.

I'm weirdly relieved, as an old school Chaos Dwarf fan.  I dislike almost all the new models, which means my wallet will remain unmolested.

I like the Hogoblins and the very basic Chaos Dwarf troops...and that's about it.  They have a strong Mantic/AoS design vibe...and that's what I hate.  lol

The hobgrots were already out I think. They are from whatever the Orcs have morphed into army.

No those hobgrots aren't out yet, though the Hobgrot Slittaz are. These new sculpts seem a bit better proportioned to me.

Thanks for that! I don’t follow AoS closely, only when the odd model comes out.

The other Hobgrots have some odd poses to show them throwing the grenades. I still like them but they look a bit odd. These new ones have some standard wargame poses which *maybe* made them easier to sculpt into normal proportions?

I honestly just took the proportions of the hoggrot slittaz to be their actual proportions - long torso, little legs, lanky arms.
It's a classic look.

Yeah, I think that's right: the Kruleboys have much the same sort of proportions, do they not?

One thing I don't really get is the point of the new-fangled GW hobgoblins; they don't seem particularly different from plain goblins: they're not much bigger and butcher like they used to be when Messrs Perry, Morrison and Lund were calling the shots (under the influence of the Monster Manual, of course). So what distinguishes them?

That said, I quite like the new ones, in that they're nicely subdued miniatures. But see Cubs's glorious take on Gyokurinti the Strangler for a refreshing blast of proper Warhammer hobgoblinry!

On another note, and to echo Elbows on the LOTR-ish look of the hobgrots, does anyone else see the potential for some of the chaos dwarves to make decent Uruk-hai (with the helmets cut down and a lot of the rococo intricacies filed off, of course)? I'm thinking about these ones in particular:

Even - or especially - the guy with the gun: "They have brought a devilry from Orthanc .. a blasting fire.".
