Nice work, Vonkluge!
 :-*

One question, though: Is the multi-coloured helmet a historical thing or something you made up?

I have no idea and am hoping that it is historically accurate so that I have an excuse for doing something similar myself
Yes according to my research and many other sources its fairly common. I would think it was to help distinguish friend from foe in the mad melees that characterized dark ages warfare. It would have also have helped commanders recognize troops on the battlefield. It becomes much more prevalent as the dark ages give way to the middle ages.
Armor and weapons in the Dark Ages were very expensive and the better stuff rare, much of it was handed down from father to son. It was rarely despite what you see in movies buried with the dead!
Hope it helps....

Thanks, mate.

And Ray - 15mm!

I figured if you are shooting for 200 you are going to need a bit of help.  ;)

I've got some Men-at-Arms that are nearing completion as well.

Wow Admiral,
What a great figure from back then and the job you did on it is marvelous. I enlarged the pic and the detail work is quite nice. The aging on the leather work and gear is well done. Amazing figure from Copplestone, makes want one just to paint it.
