1/48? I thought the Old Glorys would be more 1/64. Are the other OG-verhicles the same size? I ask for the WW1 miniatures list I did here

Here's what I have. Scales listed are based on my models' dimensions, which will vary depending on casting, construction, etc. and the historical dimensions you're comparing to:

Austin-Putilov --
Old Glory L: 1/54; W: 1/49; H: 1/51
Sloppy Jalopy L: 1/49; W: 1/49; H: 1/50

FT-17 --
Old Glory L: 1/56; W: 1/62; H: 1/60
Company B L: 1/53; W: 1/53; H: 1/53

Whippet --
Brigade L: 1/56; W: 1/54; H: 1/55

A7V --
Old Glory L: 1/56; W: 1/49; H: 1/52

Lanchester --
Old Glory L: 1/48; W: 1/54; H: 1/48

I had a HLBS Rolls Royce, but sold it because it was too small compared to my other models. It was smaller than Copplestone's, which is smaller than Company B's. So I would estimate:

Rolls Royce --
Company B 1/56
Copplestone 1/60
HLBS 1/64

It surprises me how well served the 28mm gamer is, and in a relatively short time, with Company B, BAM, Anglian, Chieftain and Crusader etc, all churning out good quality product on a regular basis. Good on you all!

You said it! And what is especially encourageig is that it is relatively small businesses with a close connection to the gamers which seem to flourish (as opposed to larger companies with big marketing budgets who try to create a demand rather than listening to the existing demand).

In addition, these guys are creating stuff that they are particularly interested in and game themselves, which shows in the quality (dare I say beauty?) of what is produced. The downside of this is that, as they aren't doing this at the 'big' level, we have to wait a while longer for new product.... which exceeds my painting speed in any case, so no problem  :D

Old Glory makes a Lanchester. I have one -- it scales out to 1/48.

I will definitely buy Company B's 1/56th Rolls Royce (like I have all their other WWI/RCW vehicles), then pester Brent to make a 1/56th Lanchester.

I noticed the Austin Putilov has gone missing from the release/in progress list again... <sigh>

OG make the WW1 era Lanchester (4x2) ... I meant the 1920's armoured car of the same name (6x4), but different design.

I got all excited for a moment....  lol

I like the WW1-model, so I think I'll give the OG a try.

Thank you, Shogun!

The Rolls looks great!  :-* And remember, they're doing at least two more, one Great War variant and another from about 1929!

There is no CompanyB FT-17 - it is actually a Brigade Games model. I understand the confusion as we handle all of the CompanyB items in the states and have co-developed the Pacific War & the Unique WW2 miniature ranges, vehicles, etc.

As you said, all measurements are based on your individual calculations.

The Brigade Games FT17 was scaled to work with my Brigade Games miniatures and if you review period photographs, you will see that the height of my French miniatures is spot on to actual photographs of the period.

The Brigade Games Mark IV and V, A7V, and Whippet were scaled to be 1/56 by Tony Ashcroft.

Someone care to add their checks on the dimensions for the Brigade Games Mark IV and V and A7V tanks? (Hint, Hint)

I've got 3 of the old Matchbox/Lledo diecast Rolls. Bigger than all the above, probably 1/50. I find they look quite accepetable against my Copplestone and Cannonfodder minis. Very robust gaming peices you can usually pick them up on Ebay quite cheap too.

Hi Lon --

Sorry about labeling the FT-17 as Company B rather than Brigade Games. (I got the Whippet right though.)

I also have a Brigade Games Mk. V and an Old Glory Mk. IV. I will measure them and post the results.

(Again, results are based on the measurements of the models I have built compared to whatever "agreed upon" historical measurements I can find online. Your mileage may vary.)

Hi Folks,

Please don't forget that the first Rolls of the cab may not be everyone's cup of tea for their period. There are other variants in development that may suit your needs. However, my congrats to the guys for coming up with an all purpose light armoured motor vehicle that has been sorely needed for gamers who have a passion for a mobile bucket of bolts thats spits buckets of dice 8)

Scale is and will always be a complex issue for some folks.

I've all the Brigade Games WW1 AFVs fit alongside the figures whether 25mm or 28 mm.

If you want to look at scale please checkout one of the threads that chats about "Hanni" and you will see a MKIV from Brigade Games with Brigade Games WW1 figures beside it. Poly has one from the GW miniatures so you can judge for yourself.
Best wishes,
Helen

Mr. Broadbent also has some of my 28mm WWI figures that he has used for scale for the CompanyB RR and Brigade Games artillery.

You guys would be all over us if we didn't do it right  ;)

Strange Lon, I see some of my Brigade Games WW1 collection beside some of those lovely creations from Michael  8)

It's one way to put it, I suppose. It's mainly called the "War of Independence" or the "Tan War" in the Republic of Ireland.

What Helen said...

I got the impression from the Company B site that the RR forms part of the "1920's" vehicle range. In which case, it being a 1920 Pattern shouldn't be an issue in any case.

As you say and the site states; there are 3 variants in the offing in any case, so I'm sure almost everyone will be happy.

I've only ever heard it called the 'Anglo-Irish War' in English books and articles. We have a way of diminishing things we didn't do well in  lol

Incidentally a Rolls Royce AC was accompanying Michael Collins the day he was killed! 'Sliabh na mBan' as it was named, is maintained in running order at Curragh Camp.

Been for a spin in her. ;) The Curragh is about an hour away.

Bovington also has one, I believe.

All the National Army Rolls Royce armoured cars were named:

ARR 1 'Tom Keogh' (formerly 'Danny Boy')
ARR 2 'Sliabh na mBan'
ARR 3 'Fighting Second'
ARR 4 'The Baby'
ARR 5 'The Manager'
ARR 6 'Custom House'
ARR 7 'Moneygall'
ARR 8 'The Big Fellow'
ARR 9 'Ex-Mutineer'
ARR 10 'Flying Fifty'
ARR 11 'Kilmichael'
ARR 12 'Knockananna'
ARR 14 'The High Chief'

Some played for both sides in the Civil War. Scot McPeake, the driver of Sliabh na mBan deserted to Republican forces shortly after the Béal na mBláth ambush, and took the car with him....
