(KICKSTARTER) Road Kill Ultimate Car Combat
« on: September 10, 2013, 07:07:57 PM »
Saw this posted up and I have to say, it is impressive and I am tempted to jump on board. What is amazing is the "money back" if you are not happy with it.

This brings me back to the glory days of the old 80's Car Wars and such! Wow!

Seems pretty expensive for what you are getting, and some game unique things like the command boxes are not even available until they hit a pretty high level of funding.   Heck, you can't even pledge the 'early bird' levels for the box game until that itself unlocks at a pretty high level of funding.

They need a picture of what is included in the car/weapon packs that are currently able to be pledged for.   Heck, may as well do it for the future ones too.   Seriously, what is in a $20 weapon pack?   Or a $60 car pack?  Or a $25 leader pack?   $60 for a handful of cars the size of the D6 in that picture seems a little high...

I swear I have seen this before. This exact game. Maybe I stumbled on to a development diary or did they try a kick-starter before?

They tried Kickstarter before, but pulled the project part way through the funding dates.

Hmm, good to know I am not going crazy.
I believe my impression then was to wait ans see, if this goes really well and explodes with ad ons and goodies I might get in but as it stands the bang to buck ratio isn't high enough.  :?

I found this yesterday and was able to have a good look today.

It is expensive even though the creator mentioned it was on par to Grandma Wendy.
i pledged but for only Reward #2 the PDF of the rule book. at least if I like it I can then buy what vehicles I want and/or find some else where.

I did hear that the Dropzone commander terrain pack could work with the Vehicles from Roadkill and that sounds like alot of fun.

will wait and see how it goes before I decide if I want to up my pledge.

Lord greywolf, You will be pleased to hear dropzone commander is coming out with a new faction next year. "the resistance" which will be post poc style survivors with a large variety of vehicle chassis and weapons to combine. You can check out Beasts of war if you like they had the first look at the resin masters.
Still dropzone is not cheap ether. But as we al know some kickstarters start getting silly once they reach 10x funding goal or so and who knows this one might just do that and start to get worth investing in, but if their first KS failed I don't really see it happening tough.

@YPU
I know look at Icursion we added on SO much towards the end it was a crazy ride.

I really hope he gets to the funded amount as this is his second go at this. I believe he tried in May but pulled the pin for what ever reason.

The feed back from the many forums I am on is positive but quite a few are waiting to see what value is added before they pledge.

Will see how it goes.

now those are some muscle cars.

I don't think we'll see any thing new unto the the $39k goal is met ad even then now till much latter and the $79k one has been blitz'd.

Still curious to know what his surprise will be if its going to add more backers then great but lets hope so...

Scurv,   I agree, but when the car is the size of a D6, I'm not sure the design really matters all that much anyway.

Stan Johansen has what you need to do this with Hot Wheels sized cars.

Actually I kind of like the looks of the cars. The setting has a very high tech setting going post pock and I like the way the vehicles have a all-round "heavy duty" look.

I not knocking the minis they in deed very nice but for $10CAD per car I could get 15 micro machines for $60CAD which gives me only 6 Road/kill vehicles I could get enough micro machines to do 4 four clans and bitz to convert them into post-apoc vehicles.

its a perception of value at the moment I am on the Digital rules which is great I can use the rules with any Micro Machines I want to use.

If they unlock any of the other components like the tiles, command boxes and objective pack I can add those.

considering we do't actually need the command boxes to play the game I may not add them...
Quote
Our rules include options to control a car without a command box (not ideal, but it works)

So if/when they get to $79k I might just:
Tile pack $15CAD
Drive Cards $5CAD
Accessory Pack $10CAD
Design Pad $5CAD

So for $35CAD I can get every thing I need and if I feel like adding in the command boxes I can for $10CAD per box. [so $55CAD for all of the components]

Seems the Kickstarter has stalled and a few of us on there who are questioning the prices cars, weapon packs, and the Characters [$25CAD for one Car with driver card and weapons OUCH] , lack of box set, etc etc.

Its seems the Fan boy have now stepped in and berated us for [well me mostly I think]  pulling the kickstarter project down, not being polite, and basically told to go else where...

it peeved me off!!! my wife told me to go vent else where and not on the KS project comments section like I was about to....

ok have finished venting sorry guys... not sure if I will reply on there or not will give myself some time to think of some thing to say.

I want this Project to succeed but is it wrong when we ask about the price of the items, lack of Starter Boxed game????

LGW
