$50 Grand is a pretty good profit for any miniatures company!

It should be noted that this only accounts for the money pledged in the Kickstarter. I know that myself at least added on to my pledge afterwards. In fact I doubled or tripled it (IIRC) as I added on stuff. Also I recall there being a PayPal option which was also outside KS.

Would the amount displayed in Kickstarter include those totals? I can't think why it would unless KS somehow was able to get their claws into the funds. So I think total raised must surely be much higher. Another million perhaps? We'll know if there is a Reaper Cigar Boat cruising around Lake Havasu next year.  :D

Reaper seems to provide a lot of value with their KS.  Most of the reviews I've read from the "Vampire" level supporters are good.  I won't be supporting this (missed out the first one as well) because I have WAY too many unpainted minis as is.  And I prefer metal; but I definitely will buy some of the larger beasties from the webstore in the cheaper Bones material; particularly monsters without weapons.  Bendy weapons are horrible.
This is my boomstick!

Starting to think I may give this a miss now. I want the giants, well one of the he giants as I already have Krug in metal. The chimera and centaurs would be cool too. I may just try to pick up some of these individually and make the $1 token pledge for addons.

It would be great if Reaper could just bulk ship packages out to a european location such as sedition wars did with battlefoam and so circumvent the high P&P.

That is definitely the way to do it. They should have the volume to bulk ship at least to Europe. Heck, why not bulk ship some portion to Europe direct from the factory and pay someone to pack and ship the european orders in UK or maybe Netherlands? They could strike a deal with someone else in the business, and there are companies offering this sort of logistics services.

Shipping individual packages overseas is just idiotic. Mine came in through Brazil (complete with a 2 week stint in brazilian customs). I thought it was a mistake, but no, the documentation in the package indicates it was sent that way on purpose. I can't figure out why, but if they like sending their packages on world tours small wonder their shipping costs are so high...

I don't think they can really do it that way this time with the way they have prioritized shipping. There could be 300 UK people in Wave 1 200 in Wave 2 400 in Wave 3 etc. I guess you could bulk ship those ones but then it's not as bulk as it could be is it.

Hmmm... I'm getting a feeling they don't really want any international backers.

"Pay shipping at cost"? Who's going to go into a blind buy like that? If they decide to stick your stuff in next day courier service, you could easily end up paying $500 shipping on $100 pledge.

I've found that "shipping at cost" typically reduces the seller's incentive to find cheap shipping to ZERO. They're going to pick whatever is least hassle for them since the customer is footing the bill anyway.

I may get in on the very bottom floor just to pick up a handful of add-ons.  I don't care much for the contents of the main set...though as the KS carries on perhaps that will change.  more interested in some of the large beasties and some furniture.

Still wondering if there's a way to track only-new minis. It's really not clear which figures are entirely new unless you've browsed their entire catalogue multiple times (which I have come close to doing, on occasion...).

I think the vast majority of miniatures in this campaign are pre-existing figures, like the last KS.  In the first campaign, I think there were only a handful of new ones.  I got in this one to keep my foot in the door for shipping priority, but I am not certain I will stay. I am not sure I want to try and sell off the majority of the main package again, as I know most of it will never be used.

As for the shipping prices, it looks like they are going to ship via USPS, which is pretty much always the cheapest option.  They are making a shipping calculator, which I think will be the actual price you pay, regardless of differences which may show up once they actually start shipping.  I am still not keen on free shipping in the US, but no discount at all for RoW shipping...

^Not always the cheapest option if you're a company...as a consumer for in-country stuff it often is.  For larger shipments, UPS and Fedex have much better deals for companies.  International shipping?  Forget about it.  Criminally expensive for an average consumer, even with USPS.  Surely Reaper has a decent account with someone.

I didn't even realize there were new figures in the last KS.

Well, new 28mm figures. I know there were some new large-sized monsters.

As a consumer from Canada, USPS is the best option.  I have never been quoted a cheaper rate by a courier than via USPS to Canada.  Additionally, USPS passes through the Canada Post customs, which only infrequently imposes taxes and tariffs on relatively small packages.  Contrast that to UPS that typically has higher shipping rates, then add their inane brokerage fees (much higher than Canada Post brokerage fees), plus taxes on every single package, no exceptions.  Plus, couriers seem to seek out the most obscure, hard to reach area of a city to place their depot, then wait until you are not home to try and deliver the package so that you have to pick it up at said depot...  o_o

I think there were a few new elves and a new fish-man and maybe a couple lizardmen or something.

Free US shipping is a Kickstarter requirement, not a Reaper decision. I'm sure Reaper would LOVE to charge US buyers shipping, but one of the requirements of KS is free domestic shipping. Reapers latest update has some rough calculations for what you'll pay to give you an idea of what shipping charges to your country will be.
