Just seen this from de Montfort University and thought it may be of interest/use to some

Very inspirational and not to downbeat the large amount of work that's gone into it, it does seem a like a Hollywood take on it  :?

Plenty of screen grabs nonetheless  :D

cheers

Yes - a wee bit fantasy / video game looking, but very nicely done nevertheless. Great piece of music too.

Would have been good to follow the actual streets that were supposed to be being shown, rather than a generic representation of the period.

Brilliant! Looks like an advert for Assassin's Creed V - The Cockney Git  ;)
Well I've lead an evil life, so they say, but I'll outrun the Devil on judgement day.

That's what I was hoping see a few shots of: Actual recognizable landmarks or major thoroughfares. Most of the video was very close-in.

Regarding "an excess of Hollywood", I've found that the best person for this sort of thing is Sven Dannart:

Extremely inspirational and my primary source for late medieval-styled buildings.

I find it strange that this period isn't done as a game, could easily imagine something like Assassins Creed or Red Dead Redemption working in the ECW...

I'd imagine it's entirely due to the video game market (which I'd assume is mostly US by comparison to other countries).  I'd wager 80-85% of Americans aren't even aware that there was an English Civil War.

If it can't appeal immediately to 12 year old Americans, a game is already behind the power curve - unfortunately.  :'(
