Figures to match Foundry Picts?
« on: November 04, 2013, 05:35:42 PM »
Hi Guys

I've just found some ageing Foundry Picts and wondered what other manufacturer's minis might match them for style and size? Gripping Beast look relatively ok except for the horses, are there any other likely matches out there?

Cheers

Newline Design, West Wind, Black Tree Design. Also Crusader's Irish?

I can't guarantee an exact match but I remember seeing various examples on here and other sites.
Try 'Picts' on the Search function on the left column <-

Crusader fit well

Foundry Pict in the middle, Crusader on either side. Slightly thicker base.

The Foundry Picts are old school, pre "heroic scale" 28mm. In my opinion the only figs that blend in really well with them scale-wise are the ones from Old Glory followed closely by West Wind. GB are too big in my opinion as are BTD.

Thanks axabrax, minden, and area!

I found a pack of old Gripping Beast Picts/Scots in my lead pile - the infantry look ok next to my Foundry guys, but the GB 'Arthurian' cavalry's horses I have look like they are from another world!

I might try the OG option for infantry and light horse. They are repackaged 25mms aren't they?.

I've mixed Foundry, BTD, Old Glory and the old Gripping Beast ranges together and I think they look fine.

The only thing I would be careful of is the horses - Foundry horses are much nicer than the others.
