I thought I would test the durability of the card (and try something new) by doing the salt weathering technique on this one.

First I gave it an undercoat of matt fixative

Then it got 2 coats of Tamiya hull red

The I wet it with warm water applied with a paint brush and sprinkled on coarse salt.

I've removed the wheels as I can reuse these for the next test so this is going to be an abandoned / ruined one.

Ok - I am now a huge fan of this technique!

For the paint scheme I went for the old apartheid era South African Police Services colour scheme.

This was a couple of different shades of yellow with a quick attempt at a blue line down the sides (this is just a paint test after all)

Once this dried I just scrubbed the salt off with a large paint brush.

It is so easy... everyone with access to an airbrush should try this.

I hadn't realised that you didn't sell those wheels seperately, could be good for some scratchbuilds.

Not a bad idea, Raxxus :)

Here is the first draft of the ratel.

are these going to be for sale?

Hi Scurv

Yes eventually they will be but there is a lot of fine tuning to do between now and then. I'll keep updating this thread as more is done

Here is the recut of the ratel, with a bunch of enhancements.

No effort has been made yet to align the edges yet but the components are all coming together.

The standard turret, the ZT3 Ingwe missle turret and the 90mm turret will all be options

You can see how it has shrunk down a bit compared to the first cut.

Nice stuff! I love these. The complexity of the builds is very impressive!

A further test cut of the casspir.

It is still too expensive so we have made a decision to strip the interior from the basic kit and sell it separately.
I have also redone the wheels so that they look more like the proper casspi's wheels  rather than these, which are the buffel wheels scaled up.

The new model should be cut tomorrow, so hopefully pictures of the final model on Friday.

That's a great find - thanks! I've actually been to that desert - it is outside Swakopmund in Namibia and it is a singularly awesome place for a break.
