Stunning!

Perhaps one day I'll see it "live" and "live"

The offer still stands, mate.
You are only twenty minutes away on the train when you are in Blighty.
 ;)

Cracking game yet again mate! Thanks for letting me get a shot! :)

Glad that you got to play, mate.
 :)

I have no idea what you are referring to.  ::) :P

That is what happens when you keep banging your head against the side of a train!

That looks like a brilliant game, great to see our US Cavalry and proto-cowboy taking part at BLAM as well as all those 18th Century types  :D

A Summary of the BLAM games... The Town of Upsheet Creek UD:14/10
« Reply #2794 on: 14 October 2015, 03:25:54 PM »
It seems that must be it regarding pictures.

A quick summary, having had time to think it over.
All three games were won by the Apache, with GeroniMac now well and truly Unchained!

The Apache began the game in 'stealth mode' each time with varying degrees of success.
The idea being to sneak as many of them onto the board and as close as possible before the alarm was raised.
In fact, in two of the games the alarm was raised almost immediately due to impatient Apache.
Or maybe they were just too bloodthirsty.
That is what was claimed at the time, anyway... ::)

Things may well have ended up with victory favouring the of the Apache in every game but they were all fairly close, with the tipping point being towards the end in all of them.
If the Cavalry had kept an extra man near GeroniMac, to take over whenever one of his gaolers was taken out, then things may well have proved very different.

A tough one for the Cavalry but I know that it can be done, as it was, several times, during playtesting.

All in all, an interesting experiment encouraging, and actually needing, cooperation between the players to get the best out of the situation.
Maybe not as 'fun' and chaotic as the more 'free for all' atmosphere of last year's games, but I think it worked fairly well.
I shall learn from it anyway.

As for the project and where to go now with it....

A few good suggestions were made regarding additions to the Town, as there is space for a few more buildings on the board.

The biggest problem I have is storing them, so future buildings will have to fit in the boxes that I already have and the area free that exists within them.
There is plenty of space for more of the smaller, street clutter type bits of scenery, though.
In fact, I picked up a couple of things at SELWG the other day, so there WILL be a few more of those kinds of things.

There are also a few more Citizens that need doing, but all in all, I am done with the figures.....I hope!

I thought the stealth aspect gave it a different feel to last year's game and the mobility advantage of the Apaches was a fun touch. There was a lot of 'kicking men while they were down', which meant figures were getting taken out quite rapidly at one point, though in fairness I think I started it with the guard on the shack roof :D

The town itself is brilliant and you have created the situation where people probably want Upsheet Creek every year! I'd certainly like to play again but I'm aware you may well want to try something new.

As for future projects - I have 5 words.

Canoe racing down Upsheet Creek!

You could get the creek build with rapids and waterfalls. Imagine loosing your paddle in a race down Upsheet Creek :o

I was hoping for a different feel to this game as I wanted to see how the rules would work out when used for other things.
I only used 'Stealth' in this game but have ideas for plenty of others.
 ;)

As for taking out opponents on the ground, the 'Germanic' Cavalry certainly used that tactic to good effect whenever they got the chance.
 :D

I do enjoy adding things to the Town and will continue to do so sporadically whenever the fancy takes me.
As for running Upsheet Creek based games again: It certainly makes my life easier and giving it more 'table-time' would be appealing as it justifies keeping it all.

I am open to running it again but will see if there is interest before doing so.
I already have a few more ideas for scenarios, and would prefer going down last year's route of all out carnage without 'sides'.
We shall see.
 ;)

Thank you.
I, for one, would appreciate seeing them.

I am afraid that 'racing' themed games seem to be on the 'banned' list for next year.... ;)

I already have a nice generic river suitable for use as the Creek, as I recently commissioned one from Sundayhero, and it is very nice.
It will certainly see action in the Old West in some form or another.
 ;)

As for losing your paddle....I think that I already have!

We shall see how the idea goes down with the others.
They may well be sick of the place by now....

Speaking of 'chains'....I never did post a picture of the accused.

Here are the two versions of GeroniMac, 'Chained' and 'Unchained'...

Ok now that I am back on the continent. Here's my few pics from the weekend.

Overview.

The Apache brave "falls of stuff" gets on a horse and promptly falls off.

The cavalry making their way down the main road to catch the 3:10 to Surbiton with their very uncooperative captive.

This is what happens when you are not constantly reminded to Mind the gap.

Thanks, Fred, much appreciated.
You seem to have caught the light in a better way, the pictures seem to show the colours pretty well.
 :D

Maybe it was something to do with the 'Hand of the Great Spirit' descending from the heavens and pointing out GeroniMac to him that did it!
 ;)

(That does not explain him falling off of everything else, though.... ;D)
