Good show chaps. I'm keen to see how your forces develop, so far they look great.

The orcs in my mind are a bit more wild animal versions of humans, like the trollocks from the wheel of time.

I like your idead Bertrand :) And the reference to WoT. Haven't read that book since it somewhere in the middle turned into characters walking and chatting over a cup of tea for a zillion pages.

Ah book 10! I've just read that one. Seriously that's all that happened. Apparently the next one picks up the pace all the way to the end.

I was expecting a bit of chatting and development... But not an entire book :/

Looking good, gents! I'm excited to switch this project unfold.

I'm curious if there are any figures from the GW LotR range that you're planning to use? It's hard to find stand-ins for stuff like the Fell Beast and that big war elephant, for example.

I remember buying my copies of these orcs, nearly thirty years ago, from the comic and game shop in the arcade in the middle of Leicester :o. I still have them and, to my mind, they are still the best orc figures I've seen. These capture what I thought orcs were like long before GW or Peter Jackson started stamping their "orthodoxy" on fantasy...

I still have such fond memories of mine from roughly the same time ago and that is why they have stuck with me as the 'perfect' Middle Earth Orc.
That is why they are going to be the mainstay of noth my Mordor and Isengard forces.

It is good to know that I am not alone... :D

I will be using a couple of GW figures, but not too many.
Regarding the Fell Beast: That is one of the creatures from Mr Jackson's mind that I do like (maybe with a head swap!), whereas the GW Mumakil is just too big for my liking and something more along the lines of Sukhe Bator's wonderful creations* would be much more to my liking.

I actually had not considered using such large creatures for this project, as I am aiming to use the project to build forces for use in SAGA, but now that you mention it...I am tempted to add some later, once I have sufficient forces to game with.
 ;)

That is why they are going to be the mainstay of both my Mordor and Isengard forces.

And, because of the Big, Bad Wolf, I have based up the first unit of them whilst I finished the greenstuff cloaks on the first unit of Gondor troops today.

Hopefully I can finally start painting something tomorrow.

Fingers crossed!

An old photo from LPL 6 I think? One of my faves so it worth showing again; and it gives the look that I'll try to achieve. Although there are mistakes,I reckon it's still one of my best :)

And the photo that made me a red box fan...

I love the picture, it's so full of tension and action. I remember voting it as my favourite of the whole season...

Your photo composition is something that I hope to be able to emulate at some point as they are all stunning. And moody. Dont forget moody.....

That is a WONDERFULLY cinematic scene that you've created. As BEAUTIFULLY painted & based as the minis are, it's the background that makes the your creation special for moi. FANTASTICALLY WELL DONE!
